"So that's when I decided to leave home."

Faissal Khan has opened up on why he feared his family after a particular incident.

The brother of Bollywood megastar Aamir Khan was embroiled in a legal battle with his family after they allegedly kept him “under house arrest” for a year.

This is because they believed he was “depressed and had paranoid schizophrenia”.

Faissal explained that although he has forgiven Aamir for what happened, he cannot forget the 2007 incident.

Because of the incident, he has maintained a distance from his family but wishes them the best.

Faissal said that he had to “run away” otherwise he would still be a prisoner at Aamir’s house.

He said: “I was going through that phase with my family, and then one day, Aamir called to say that he wanted my signatory rights because I am mad and can’t take care of myself.

“So I was told to declare before a judge that I am incapable of taking care of myself.

“I couldn’t understand why. So that’s when I decided to leave home.”

Faissal went on to say that he underwent a 20-day mental evaluation at JJ Hospital, after which the judge declared he was sound of mind.

On his relationship with Aamir now, Faissal said:

“Such a big incident happened to me, so I can forgive him, but I can’t forget what happened.

“I talk to my family on the phone, I wish them on birthdays and on Eid, but there is a distance.

“There is also a fear, because of what they did in the past.”

“I would like to maintain a distance. I won’t lie, there is a barrier between us, but it’s better to maintain this distance.

“I hold nothing against them, I wish them the best, but I don’t want to cross certain lines, because I have my own dignity to protect.”

Faissal and Aamir starred together in the box office flop Mela.

Afterwards, Faissal Khan’s career struggled, however, he never asked Aamir for help.

He said: “No, I did not ask help to build my career from Aamir.

“I wanted to do things by myself because whatever it is, my success, my failure is mine.

“He is my brother, he wishes well for me but I had to go through a dark phase, that is part of my journey. That is my life.”

Faissal is now making his comeback with the film Faactory, which he has also directed.

Dhiren is a journalism graduate with a passion for gaming, watching films and sports. He also enjoys cooking from time to time. His motto is to “Live life one day at a time.”
