Former Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace.
The 58-year-old received the honour at an Investiture ceremony in London on December 18, 2024, for services to the cultural industries.
For the day, Shobna looked chic in a dark blue satin midi-dress, featuring a cowl-neck bodice and asymmetric pleated skirt.
Shobna paired the gown with black suede-heeled boots and a red and navy fedora.
She accessorised with a huge pair of statement drop earrings, which featured a huge sapphire gem surrounded by diamonds.
Shobna was accompanied by her son Akshay.
The honour comes after Shobna recently admitted feeling “rejected”.
In an Instagram post, she questioned her career choice after losing out on another audition.
Appearing to have had trouble getting cast for roles, Shobna wrote:
“The face of rejection from something I didn’t even know I wanted to do in the first place.
“Honestly why on earth did I pick this career sometimes I really don’t know anyway, just so you know it is cold out there.”
Her post came after she revealed that since leaving her hair in its natural grey, after previously dyeing her hair brunette for years, Shobna now feels more “comfortable”.
Shobna Gulati wrote: “Wiser? Definitely older and very silver – growing greysfully.
“So many said I should dye it back to the dark brown hair I had, ‘I look old, why am I succumbing to being an old lady, it’s not attractive etc etc’.
“But times a changing innit and I’m so happy with what’s transpired and I’m so comfortable now.
“I dunno but I reckon my head feels better without the 2 weekly roots dye… and that is positive no harsh chemicals no colour protecting shampoo just like it was when I was younger… anyway I thought I’d share.”
Despite receiving some negative comments, several said the actress looked “gorgeous” and they “wished they had the guts to do it too”.
Shobna Gulati is best known for playing Sunita Alahan in Coronation Street between 2001 and 2006, returning to the role between 2009 and 2013.
She will take part in the Christmas edition of The Great British Bake Off.
In a first for the festive specials, the Christmas edition of Channel 4’s baking contest will be formed out of soap stars.
Along with Shobna Gulati, the celebrity bakers will also include Natalie Cassidy (Sonia Fowler) and Dean Gaffney (Robbie Jackson) from EastEnders.
Coronation Street and Emmerdale actor Chris Bisson will also participate and they will be joined by former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star Sheree Murphy.
