"It wasn't. Honestly, get a grip!"

Dr Ranj Singh hit out at social media followers for “jumping to conclusions” after revealing he was rushed to hospital.

The TV medic said he needed medical attention after being struck down with severe food poisoning.

However, the incident sparked a debate among Covid conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers.

Explaining what happened, Dr Ranj said:

“Unfortunately, I had dehydration after a bout of food poisoning.

“Luckily I got great care from our NHS and was discharged home after some fluids to recover!”

Slamming those who came up with conspiracy theories as reasons for his hospital visit, Dr Ranj added:

“Unfortunately there are some absolute plonkers on social media (Twitter) who think my recent hospital stay was something to do with vaccines.

“It wasn’t. Honestly, get a grip!”

Dr Ranj captioned the post: “FYI… for the anti-vax plonkers on here.

“Honestly, give your heads a wobble.”

His followers were happy to hear he was okay.

However, Dr Ranj’s illness forced him to miss BBC One’s Morning Live on August 1, 2023.

He was due to host a section on norovirus. Instead, Dr Xand – Alexander van Tulleken – had to stand in for him.

Main host Gethin Jones informed viewers that Dr Ranj was “not feeling so well” and had to miss the programme.

He said: “Dr Ranj was meant to be here today but unfortunately he is not feeling so well so Dr Xand is joining us from the set of Operation.”

During the chat with Dr Xand, Gethin said:

“Thank you for stepping in for Dr Ranj today.”

They then discussed how the cases of norovirus are increasing on cruise ships.

Dr Ranj Singh recently discouraged people from commenting on the Phillip Schofield scandal as he encouraged them to be “mindful” because he isn’t in an “easy place”.

He previously criticised ITV’s “toxic culture” and claimed the “issues with This Morning go far beyond Phillip”.

Dr Ranj said that while he did not agree with how Phillip Schofield acted after it was revealed he had been having an affair with a younger member of the team, he suggested that the former This Morning host should be treated with kindness.

He insisted that everyone needs to be “careful when we are responding to people like that, that we don’t go to far”, as he weighed in on the controversy that has been surrounding the TV star in recent months.
