"Diljit Dosanjh and Taylor Swift??"
Diljit Dosanjh has reacted to claims that he got touchy with Taylor Swift at a restaurant in Vancouver.
In a now-deleted tweet, a Canadian news outlet based in British Columbia reported:
“BREAKING: Vancouver patrons were in for a surprise when they saw two of their favourite stars dining together at Cactus Club Cafe Coal Harbor on Monday night.
“Multiple sources confirmed that Taylor Swift and Diljit Dosanjh were laughing and being ‘touch touch’.”
The report came just two days after the American singer reportedly broke up with The 1975 singer Matty Healy.
Reacting to the tweet, Diljit joked:
“There is something called privacy.”
Diljit’s response left many netizens wondering how he was allegedly at a restaurant with Taylor.
One user asked: “Are there any facts to this? Lol.”
Another wrote: “This is wild if it’s true… lol no… can’t process this…”
Some were left laughing, imagining the two out together on a dinner date and later breaking up.
One wrote: “Diljit Dosanjh and Taylor Swift?? A ship I never knew existed… But I want it to sail.”
Others theorised that there could be a collaboration between the two singers.
A tweet read: “Wait, did Taylor Swift and Diljit Dosanjh just invent a new language called ‘touch touch’? I can’t wait for their collab album, Tickles and Tunes!”
Another said: “After their breakup, Taylor’s new album will be out, called Shame on You.”
A third wrote: “Waiting for the breakup album.”
One person commented:
“If Taylor and Diljit do a song together… BRO MY LIFE WILL BE IN SHAMBLES IN A GOOD WAY.”
In April 2023, Diljit Dosanjh performed at Coachella, becoming the first Punjabi singer to perform at the well-known music festival.
His performance led to Diljit striking up a friendship with DJ Diplo and there has been speculation that they will collaborate on a song.
On the acting front, Diljit will portray the late Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila in an upcoming film.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film’s music has been composed by AR Rahman.
The Netflix film also stars Parineeti Chopra, who will play Chamkila’s wife Amarjot.
It will tell the story of the singer, who became extremely popular with the village audience in Punjab.
His monthly bookings regularly outnumbered the number of days in the month, with film composer Amit Trivedi labelling the singer “a legend, the Elvis of Punjab”.
But his life abruptly ended at the age of 27 when he, his wife and two members of their band were shot dead by a gang of motorcyclists.
No arrests were ever made in connection to the shooting and the case was never solved. It is believed that Sikh militants carried out the shooting.
