“Esha was interested in extra-curricular activities"
Veteran actor Dharam Singh Deol popularly known as Dharmendra was exposed by his wife Hema Malini who revealed he did not approve their daughter Esha Deol, dancing and entering Bollywood.
Recently, Hema and Esha appeared on an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show (2020) where they disclosed some family secrets.
The mother and daughter duo graced the show to promote Esha’s first-ever book as an author titled, ‘Amma Mia’.
This will mark Esha’s debut as an author. The book consists of anecdotes, advice and recipes for toddlers.
Taking to Instagram, Esha announced the news of her upcoming book on parenting, she wrote:
“They say becoming a mother is one of the most beautiful experiences a woman goes through and with the grace of God, I’m glad to have experienced it twice over.
“Raising my two daughters, Radhya and Miraya is nothing short of an adventure and through the book, I want to share with new mothers the exciting and overwhelming joyride I’ve been on since becoming a first-time mum and all the tears, laughter and drama that comes along with it.”
During their time on the comedy show, Hema Malini revealed Dharmendra’s opposition to his daughter dancing and acting. She said:
“Esha was interested in extra-curricular activities such as sports and dance.
“Like in our house, we used to do dance practice because of which she started liking it and wanted to be a professional dancer and even make her career in Bollywood.”
Despite his daughter’s interest in dancing and acting, Dharmendra objected to Esha’s wishes. Hema said:
“However, Dharamji didn’t like his daughter dancing or making her Bollywood debut and he had an objection to that.”
Dharmendra’s opinion changed when he saw the grace, appreciation and plaudits Hema’s “nritya” (dance) received from audiences.
As a result of this, Dharmendra no longer objected to Esha’s desire for dancing and acting in films.
Esha made her Bollywood debut with her 2002 film, Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe opposite Aftab Shivdasani.
The actress continued to star in various films like Yuva (2004) alongside a stellar cast, Dhoom (2004), Dus (2005) and No Entry (2005).
Esha was last seen behind the camera in 2019 in the short film titled Cakewalk.
Meanwhile Esha Deol’s book, ‘Amma Mia’ is due to hit shelves on March 23, 2020.
