Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh made a special Diwali announcement, revealing their baby daughter’s name and the first glimpse of her.
In a joint post on Instagram, a picture featured their daughter’s feet.
The caption revealed that the baby is named Dua.
It read: “Dua Padukone Singh.
“Dua: meaning a prayer. Because she is the answer to our prayers.
“Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude. Deepika and Ranveer.”
Fans and fellow celebrities were happy to hear the news and took to the comments section.
One wrote: “Such a beautiful name.”
Another commented: “Like mother like daughter.”
A third posted: “Pretty name. God bless baby Dua.”
Others posted love heart emojis.

Ranveer and Deepika welcomed their first child on September 8, 2024, and in the post, it read:
“Welcome baby girl.”
The couple have previously spoken about becoming parents and on his quiz show The Big Picture, Ranveer expressed his desire to be a father and have a daughter just like his wife.
Speaking to one contestant, Ranveer said:
“As you know I am married and may have kids in the next 2-3 years.
“Your sister-in-law (Deepika) was such a cute baby. I see her baby photos every day and tell her, ‘Give me a baby like this and my life would be set’.
“I am already shortlisting names.”
The couple also delighted fans with a pregnancy photoshoot.
It was a black-and-white shoot Deepika proudly displayed her baby bump while Ranveer held her.
Ranveer wore a dapper jumper and jeans while Deepika was dressed in a beautiful transparent blouse.
While Deepika Padukone has been embracing motherhood, Ranveer Singh has balanced fatherhood with work commitments.
In October 2024, Ranveer attended the trailer launch of Singham Again, which also stars Deepika.
At the event, he explained that Deepika was busy looking after the baby.
He said: “My duty to take care of the baby is in the night, hence I am here.”
Revealing that Deepika was pregnant during filming, Ranveer continued:
“There are so many stars in our film, and let me tell you this — my baby had a debut as Baby Simmba.
“Deepika was pregnant while shooting for the film.
“Here’s wishing you an advanced happy Diwali on behalf of Lady Singham, Simmba and Baby Simmba.”
