“I forcefully kicked his head, neck, and chest."
Recent developments have emerged in the ongoing investigation of the Renukaswamy murder case, implicating Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa.
According to a chargesheet filed by the Bengaluru Police, Darshan has confessed to physically assaulting the victim. This includes kicking him in the groin.
Darshan, along with 16 accomplices, was apprehended following the discovery of Renukaswamy’s body near a flyover in Bengaluru on June 9, 2024.
Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan of Darshan, was reportedly kidnapped and murdered after allegedly sending lewd messages to Pavithra Gowda, Darshan’s partner.
The police claim that the assault was orchestrated at Darshan’s behest.
Details from the chargesheet indicate that Darshan learned of Renukaswamy’s kidnapping at around 3 pm on June 8.
Pavan, one of the accused who worked at Darshan and Pavithra’s residence, informed him.
By 4:30 pm, Darshan, Pavithra, Pavan, and another accomplice, Pradosh, arrived at a shed in Pattanagere where Renukaswamy was being held.
Upon their arrival, they found that he had already endured physical violence.
The chargesheet reveals Darshan’s account of the events, where he confronted Renukaswamy about the explicit messages.
Darshan stated: “I forcefully kicked his head, neck, and chest. I used a tree branch and my hands to hurt him further.”
He further admitted to instructing Pavithra to strike Renukaswamy with her slippers.
Darshan also forced Renukaswamy to apologise at Pavithra’s feet.
Pavithra Gowda corroborated the events, confirming that she struck Renukaswamy with her slippers after being shown the offensive messages he sent.
The chargesheet details the brutality of the assault, noting that Darshan kicked Renukaswamy in the stomach, causing him to fall.
He then applied pressure to Renukaswamy’s chest with his leg and inflicted further injuries.
This included a kick to his head, which resulted in severe damage to his left ear.
Darshan allegedly commanded Pavan to remove Renukaswamy’s trousers before delivering a forceful kick.
After leaving the scene, Darshan claimed he was unaware of the victim’s fate.
Later that evening, he was informed of Renukaswamy’s death.
Following the murder, Darshan allegedly provided substantial sums of money to Pradosh, who promised to manage the situation.
On June 10, Darshan was told by his associates that Renukaswamy had been strangled and electrocuted.
They requested additional funds to ensure that matters were handled discreetly.
However, the following day, Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested at a hotel in Mysore, Karnataka.
The post-mortem examination of Renukaswamy revealed multiple bruises, a missing ear, and ruptured testicles.
This case continues to unfold, raising significant concerns about violence and accountability within the entertainment industry.
