“We are aware of a video circulating"
A viral video depicting a Crusteez Donuts cashier making derogatory remarks towards Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has sparked controversy.
The footage, which quickly circulated on social media, captured the Chief Justice at a shop with two women.
One of them is seen speaking with a shop employee. In the video, the cashier reportedly refuses to serve Chief Justice Isa and makes disrespectful comments upon recognising him.
The incident occurred while the Chief Justice was visiting the establishment with his family, leading to a wave of reactions online.
Some social media users praised the cashier’s actions as an exercise in free speech and dissent against a figure viewed as controversial.
However, others said the behaviour was inappropriate and disrespectful.
The situation escalated when an image appearing to show authorities sealing the doughnut shop went viral. They cited a health-related violation.
The image fuelled further debate about the boundaries of free expression and the ramifications of publicly confronting high-ranking officials.
However, it was revealed that the Crusteez Donuts branch had not been shut.
The image shared by the Islamabad District Commissioner was related to a separate violation concerning dengue SOPs.
In light of the incident, Crusteez Donuts issued a statement on social media.
The management emphasised its commitment to treating every customer with respect and fairness.
The statement read: “At Crusteez Donuts, we are committed to treating every customer with respect and fairness.
“We are aware of a video circulating where an employee refused service to a customer. This action was an individual decision and does not reflect our company’s values.
“We are investigating the situation to understand the context fully. While respecting personal beliefs, service should never be denied based on individual opinions.
“We are reinforcing training across all locations to ensure our teams uphold our standards of inclusivity and professionalism.
“We apologise to the customer involved and to those impacted. Thank you for your understanding as we address this matter.”

Meanwhile, several people have claimed that after the incident, the cashier who made derogatory remarks has gone missing.
The employee, along with his family, reportedly remain untraceable, adding to the growing concerns surrounding the case.
A user said:
“We have no freedom of speech here it’s obvious.”
Another criticised: “When he is a public servant, getting his salary paid by people’s tax, which also makes him susceptible to public accountability.
“But he cannot handle basic public critique.”
