Three of Pakistan’s superstars are ready for their debut launch in Bollywood. These Pakistani actors ooze charm, good looks and incredible acting talent. DESIblitz gives you the details on who’s who.

Sonam Kapoor

Shockingly, Imran turned down Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 because of his prior commitments.

Pakistan has come knocking on Bollywood’s door, and we for one cannot contain our excitement.

Three of the top actors of India’s neighbour, Fawad Afzal Khan, Imran Ali Abbas and Humaima Malick are set to make their Bollywood debut opposite Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Emraan Hashmi.

Art has no borders. It is an overwhelming feeling, especially when the artists from India and Pakistan meet to create art and history. We have the details of your favourite Pakistani actors here.

Fawad Afzal Khan

Khubsoorat Fawad Khan

This handsome and charming hunk was born in Karachi, but bred in Athens, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Manchester before moving back to his birthplace when he was just 13.

Full of ambition, Fawad always wanted to be independent and thanks to his oozing charm, he broke into modelling when he walked the ramp at India Bridal Fashion Week and L’Oréal Paris Bridal Week.

In college while completing his degree in Computer Science, studies didn’t interest him much. He instead formed an underground band called Entity Paradigm where he was the lead vocalist.

Their first album, Irtiqa (2003), of progressive metal music, was an evolution in those days. He along with his band mates performed at almost 250 shows, and met with enormous commercial success.

Khan made his screen debut at the age of 19 with the TV serial Jutt and Bond. This was followed the roles in series like Satrangi (2008), Dastaan (2010), Humsafar (2011) which is the highest rated TV series in Pakistan along with the popular series, Zindagi Gulzaar Hai (2013).

Fawad Khan’s film debut, Khuda Kay Liye (2007), based on 9/11, was not only the highest grossing film in Pakistan but also highly appreciated worldwide. Khan has also done a film named Armaan for which he received the Tarang Housefull award for Best On-Screen Couple.

With Khoobsurat, he is making his entry into Bollywood, pairing with Sonam Kapoor. The Disney film is produced by the big banner UTV Motion Pictures. Speaking about working with the Kapoor’s, Fawad says:

“I have to say that Anil Kapoor Sahab, Rhea and Sonam have treated me like family and have really looked after me here. I was in an alien environment with new people and you do get conscious. But they all made me really comfortable.”

Just one film old in Bollywood and Fawad is already making his presence felt. Even before his Bollywood debut release he has already been signed alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan for a Yash Raj banner film.

Humaima Malick

Emraan Hashmi and Humaima Malik

Humaima is a famous Pakistani model and actress. Born in Quetta, Pakistan, Humaima started her modelling career at the age of 14 when she first walked the ramp.

Humaima is famous for her enchanting looks, smile and talent. Sadly, her marriage to the film maker and actor Shamoon Abassi didn’t last long and they soon separated in 2010.

Humaima has acted in several TV serials like Ishq Junoon Deewangi (2009), Baarish Kay Ansoo (2009), Tanveer Fatima (B.A), Akbari Asghari (2011) and many more. But she was immediately noticed in Bollywood with her film debut, Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol (2012).

Her performance in Bol was appreciated worldwide and she even went on to win several awards including the London Asian Film Festival and South Asian Rising Star for Best Actress.

Humaima is at present working on Bollywood film, Sher, directed by Sonam Shah. She has also signed a three film contract with Vidhu Vinod Chopra and will be seen on the silver screen debuting in Bollywood with Raja Natwarlal.

Buzz is that Humaima has done a lot of steamy kisses on screen with Emraan Hashmi for the movie and everyone is waiting to see how conservative Pakistan will react to her debut film.

Imran Abbas Naqvi

Imran Abbas

A Pakistani actor and model, Imran Abbas with his cute boy-next-door looks is surely the next Ali Zafar of Bollywood. Born in Lahore, not many know that Imran has a degree in Architecture.

Imran started his acting career with a TV drama series Umrao Jaan (2002). He then went on to do dozens of shows like Malaal (2009), Meri Zaat Zarra-e-Benishaan (2009), Main Manto (2014) and many more.

Other than acting in dramas, Imran has also performed in a number of tele-films, including Sheer Khurma (2009), and Shadi Aur Tum Say? (2010).

Thanks to his tempting looks, innocent eyes and superb acting talent, Bollywood has been after Imran for a long while. Shockingly, Imran turned down projects like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish (2010), Mohit Suri’s Aashiqui 2 (2013) and Akshay Kumar’s Boss (2013), because of his prior commitments.

To date, he regrets not getting a chance to do these projects, particularly Aashiqui 2, which he claims is the biggest loss in his career so far.

As of today, Imran has several projects lined up. He has finished filming for his first Bollywood project, Vikram Bhatt’s Creature 3D together with Bipasha Basu which is slated for a September release, and he is currently shooting for his next two Bollywood films, Funalu and Raqs.

With such adorable looks and a down-to-earth attitude, it will be interesting to see if Imran earns millions of fans on the other side of the border too.

With these Pakistani superstars breaking Bollywood bread with their Indian colleagues, fans from both countries are eagerly waiting to see how they fare on the big screen. We’re pretty sure they will succeed in making Pakistan and Pakistanis proud!
