“The world lost a gem much too soon."
Members of the Bollywood industry are paying tribute to SSR on the first anniversary of his death.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his home on June 14, 2020.
His death sent shockwaves around Bollywood and even began a nationwide movement to seek justice for him.
Now, many industry members are taking to social media to remember the late actor.
Actress Ankita Lokhande took to Instagram to share a photo montage of her with her co-star and former boyfriend.
Lokhande and SSR split back in 2016 after six years and worked on the TV show Pavitra Rishta together.
Marking 12 years of Pavitra Rishta as well as SSR’s death, Lokhande said:
“Sushant is not with us and Pavitra Rishta is incomplete without him. Only Sushant was Archana’s Manav.”
She added:
“Sushant taught me to act, I knew nothing. I was junior and he was very senior.
“He was a brilliant actor, brilliant co-star and I am very fortunate to work with him.”
Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin also took to Instagram to remember SSR.
SSR and Bhasin worked on Chhichhore together, and Bhasin released a photo of the pair in tribute to his late co-star.
His caption read: “I will remember you as the boy who dared to dream.
“Your passionately curious intellect, deep fascination for astronomy and what lies beyond lead to the most awesome on set conversations.
“You could go from quantum physics to picking up dance choreography in seconds and that is what made you unique.
“Your journey was inspiring and advice always generous.
“The world lost a gem much too soon. Saddened that today you lost what must have been an extremely difficult mental health battle.
“I hope that in the deafening silence of your demise society wakes up to the need to more urgently and openly address mental health.”
The likes of Kriti Sanon and Remo D’Souza also used Instagram to pay their respects to SSR on his death anniversary.
Multiple Bollywood stars took to Twitter to pay tribute too. The hashtag #SushantSinghRajput is trending on the platform.
