"I just took on drinking a lot."
Bobby Deol is a guest on an upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan 8.
Along with his older brother Sunny Deol, Bobby will grace Karan Johar’s famous couch.
During his interview, Bobby bravely opened up about the alcohol abuse that he faced during the low phase of his career.
The actor shared that he gave up and found solace in alcohol:
“I gave up, I started pitying myself. I just took on drinking a lot. I was sitting at home.
“I used to keep cursing and saying, ‘Why don’t people take me? I am good, why don’t they want to work with me?’
“I think I became so negative about everything, there was no positivity coming from me. I used to sit at home, my wife worked.”
Bobby went on to say the turning point came when his son questioned his lifestyle choices.
The actor said: “Suddenly I heard my son saying, ‘You know mom, papa sits at home and you go to work everyday’.
“Something snapped in me. I just said, ‘No I can’t!’ It was a slow process, when I got out of it.
“It took me time to get into the right mind frame to become okay. It can’t happen overnight.”
On the show, Bobby also revealed that he asked Salman Khan for help in his career:
“One day Salman told me, ‘When my career wasn’t going well, I climbed onto your brother’s back and I moved ahead.’
“So I said to him, ‘Please let me climb on your back’.”

Bobby made his film debut in Barsaat (1995). He has shared the screen with his brother Sunny and father Dharmendra in films such as Apne (2005) and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011).
Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol’s appearance on Koffee With Karan 8 will be available for streaming on Disney+Hostar on November 2, 2023.
They last appeared together on the show during its first season in 2005.
Bobby previously delved into his alcohol struggles and called Bollywood a “ruthless” industry.
On the work front, Sunny is currently enjoying the success of Gadar 2 (2023). Meanwhile, Bobby last appeared in the ZEE5 film Love Hostel (2022).
Bobby Deol is set to star in Animal. The film is scheduled to be released on December 1, 2023, and will also star Ranbir Kapoor.
