Bobby Deol breaks silence on Alia Bhatt Rift Rumours on Alpha Set

Bobby Deol has responded to rumours of a rift with Alia Bhatt on the set of Alpha, admitting he was “shocked” when he heard about them.

The actor, who played the antagonist opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the 2023 blockbuster Animal, will next star as the main villain opposite Alia Bhatt in the upcoming spy thriller Alpha.

Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat, Bobby addressed reports suggesting a tiff with Alia while working on the film.

He said: “A friend also shared a snapshot of that with me. I was so shocked.

“People have so much free time that they make up and write anything.

“After I did Animal with Ranbir, I was offered a film with Alia. I thought what’s happening, how come, I’m getting to work with two of my favourites.”

Bobby explained that while he is fond of both Ranbir and Alia, they do not meet often outside of work.

Rejecting any suggestion of friction on set, Bobby praised Alia’s dedication and preparation for the action-packed role.

He said: “First of all, she’s such a good actor. She’s a professional and so hardworking.

“She was so prepared in her fight sequences.”

Bobby also dismissed another rumour linked to producer Aditya Chopra:

“They even said that Bobby was so upset that Aditya Chopra offered him another film.”

Alpha is produced by Yash Raj Films and forms part of the YRF Spy Universe, which includes blockbuster franchises such as Pathaan, as well as the Tiger and War franchises.

The film also stars Sharvari and Anil Kapoor. It marks the feature directorial debut of Shiv Rawail, who previously directed the Netflix series The Railway Men.

Alpha is scheduled for a cinema release on July 3, 2026.

Bobby Deol recently reiterated his admiration for Alia in another interview, highlighting her commitment to preparing for the physically demanding role.

He added: “Alia is one of the most hardworking and sincere actors I’ve worked with. She comes to the set completely prepared, deeply invested in every scene.

“She has never done this kind of action before, and I was amazed seeing how prepared she was for the shoot. I could see she was giving her all because action is hard to pull off, and she went for it.”

The actor added that he has known Alia since childhood.
