"Are we inflating box office numbers?”
In the upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan, Sunny Deol appeared to accuse Bollywood of inflating box office numbers.
The Gadar 2 star and his brother Bobby Deol are guests in episode two.
In the promo, Karan Johar appreciated the Deol brothers’ recent success, standing up and saying:
“The first thing I have to do is give you a standing ovation.”
The topic of conversation then moved on to Sunny’s recent interviews and how he has repeatedly said that Gadar 2‘s box office collections are organic.
Probing Sunny to clarify his comments, Karan asked:
“What does that really mean? Are we inflating box office numbers?”
Sunny then said it was a trend to inflate box office collections.
Karan asked: “Is that why the tagline on Gadar 2 was ‘Hindustan ka asli blockbuster’?”
Sunny looked at the host and laughed.
The moment led some fans to believe that Sunny Deol was exposing what some Bollywood films do when it comes to announcing box office figures.
One X user shared the clip and wrote:

Another user claimed inflated box office numbers in Bollywood were common knowledge.
Sharing a video of an empty screening, the user wrote:
“What’s there to expose. Everyone knows about it already. Collections with vacant theatres.”

Koffee With Karan will also see the host ask Bobby why his father Dharmendra was being so “chaalu”.
Bobby laughs and responds: “I don’t know.
“Your film Rocky Aur Rani, I loved the film. We have been teasing him saying Dad is now doing on-screen kisses too, yet people call him cute.”
Referencing Dharmendra’s on-screen kiss with Shabana Azmi in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Sunny added:
“Dad can do whatever he likes and he gets away with it.”
Karan also teased Sunny about a “teddy bear fetish”, saying:
“Who would know that a man who could destroy a country with a hand pump could actually be into teddy bears!”
Sunny and Bobby Deol made their Koffee With Karan debut during the first season in 2005.
Since then, Sunny has not been a guest on the talk show. On the other hand, Bobby was a guest in 2007 with Preity Zinta when they were promoting Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.
On the work front, Sunny Deol is still basking in the success of Gadar 2.
Meanwhile, Bobby Deol is gearing up for Animal, playing the menacing antagonist.
