“We are not nervous. We are very happy.”
It’s official! Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover are the latest couple to get hitched in B-town!
The star-studded wedding bash began on April 28, 2016 with a Bengali ritual, ‘briddhi’, performed by Bipasha’s father Hirak Basu.
Bipasha was showered with monkey-themed gifts, since ‘monkey’ is the nickname the couple has for each other.
The next day saw the couple’s celebrity friends join the mehendi and sangeet ceremony at Villa 69 in Mumbai.
Among the guests were Shilpa Shetty with husband Raj Kundra and sister Shamita Shetty, fashion designer Rocky S, fitness trainer Deanne Panday and actress Sophie Choudry.
Bipasha stunned in a pink and gold lehenga, laced with floral embellishment. Her loose curls were held by a flower tiara, adding to her youthful and natural look.
Karan opted for a pure white kurta, contrasting his radiant bride’s outfit while keeping it fresh and cool.
Speaking to the media after the mehendi ceremony, Bipasha said: “We are not nervous. We are very happy. We are very happy for all the love you are giving us. Thank you very much media and fans.”
Her mother Mamta Basu, overjoyed on the special day, also took time to talk to reporters: “Thank you for all your blessings. We are very happy. All of danced on most of Bipasha’s songs. Karan will perform tomorrow for Bipasha at the wedding.”

On April 30, 2016, Bipasha and Karan tied the knot in another Bengali traditional ceremony. Karan looked handsome in a white sherwani, accompanied by his beaming bride dressed in a Sabyasachi lehenga and elaborate jewellery.
Bipasha’s ex Dino Morea, actor Ranbir Kapoor and Bigg Boss 6 contestant Sapna Moti Bhavnani were among many famous guests attending the grand reception party at the five-star St Regis hotel in Mumbai.
One of Bollywood’s sweetest couple who just celebrated their ninth anniversary, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, arrived with Amitabh Bachchan and posed with the newlyweds.
King Shahrukh Khan looked dashing in a three-piece black suit, and so did Salman Khan! Preity Zinta, a new bride herself, also turned up, whilst Sonam Kapoor donned a white saree by Nikasha.
And the star power continued to descend upon the venue as Sanjay Dutt, Sushmita Sen, Malaika Arora Khana and Neil Nitin Mukesh arrived for the celebration.
Since announcing their engagement in early April, Bipasha and Karan have been counting down to their big day by confessing their love to the world.
Bipasha says on Instagram: “You take away all the darkness, you take away all my pain. You walk me through the storm, through sunshine and even the rain.”
“You pat me on my back when I’m right and kick my ass when I’m wrong. You show me how beautiful this life is even if our path sometimes seems weary and long.
“I promise to be with you as you are with me forever and a day.”
Over the wedding weekend in Mumbai, they continue to celebrate the joy with guests and fans through the hashtag ‘#MonkeyWedding’.
Many congratulations to the newlyweds and we look forward to news of a baby ‘monkey’ soon!
