"They had refused to stop shooting for their film."
The stars of Pakistani TV series Mera Dil Mera Dushman have tested positive for Coronavirus.
Yasir Nawaz and Alizeh Shah have reportedly contracted the virus. In addition, Yasir’s wife and TV host Nida Yasir and Alizeh’s fiance Noaman Sami also have Covid-19.
Nida had been filming her morning show, Good Morning Pakistan where the cast of Mera Dil Mera Dushman appeared as guests.
This included Yasir, Naveed Raza, Ailzeh, Noaman and Anam Tanveer.
While cast members have tested positive, it is not known if their family members have contracted the virus. However, it has been rumoured that several crew members on the sets of both shows have also tested positive.
The news attracted a lot of attention on social media, with many saying that the spread is due to shoots continuing in the middle of the pandemic.
One person said: “Nida Yasir and Yasir Nawaz along with her morning show crew have been tested positive for Coronavirus.
“The morning show was not stopped filming during the lockdown.”
Another wrote: “Nida Yasir and her husband Yasir Nawaz, actress Alizeh Shah, her bf Noaman Sami & whole team tested positive for Coronavirus.
“This is beyond sad. Please stay ur f** homessss! Currently, the cast is busy in ongoing shoots & maybe they have picked up the virus during the shoot.”
One added: “They had refused to stop shooting for their film. Now their children and parents are at risk too.”
Naveed explained: “I pushed them all to get tested. There must have been a carrier on set.”
There had been speculation that Anam had tested positive, however, she clarified the rumours, stating that she had tested negative.
Nida clarified: “Only Yasir, our daughter and I are positive, not my crew.
“I have no symptoms but Yasir has fever. My son tested negative.”
One social media user had pointed out that the cast of Mera Dil Mera Dushman appeared on Nida’s TV show a few days before.
Since the news came to light, Nida has stopped shooting for her show.
In the past, the morning show host came under criticism while public gatherings were banned. A makeup competition was held with no consideration for social distancing.
At the present moment, everyone who has recently come into contact with Nida is being tested.
They have been told to stay at home until they receive their results.
