"I will also demolish his home.”
An Islamabad SHO used a mosque’s loudspeaker to threaten children and their families against kite flying.
The SHO, identified as Secretariat Ashfaq Warraich, vowed to take extreme measures against anyone violating the ban on kite flying.
In a viral video, Warraich was heard declaring that if any child is caught flying a kite, their father will face an FIR.
He also warned of public beatings and even demolition of their homes.
The officer said: “Tell your children not to fly kites. It’s a bloody activity and poses a risk to people’s lives.
“If anyone’s child is caught flying a kite, I will file an FIR against his father and beat him with shoes in the middle of the street.
“I will also demolish his home.”
His aggressive language and threats have sparked widespread debate, with many questioning his approach.
The police crackdown on kite flying in Islamabad follows repeated incidents where the activity has led to injuries and even fatalities.
While some social media users supported the officer’s tough stance on banning kite flying, others condemned his remarks as an abuse of power.
Critics argued that law enforcement officers should educate the public through awareness campaigns rather than resorting to threats and intimidation.
Many questioned the legality of his claims, particularly regarding the demolition of homes, with legal experts asserting that such actions would be unlawful.
On social media, a user said: “Steps should be taken to stop kite flying, but this behaviour of the police officer is very worrying.
“It seems that the Islamabad police have been trained to adopt an aggressive attitude.
“The use of derogatory words towards the public indicates the flaws in the Islamabad police system.”

Senior lawyer Sardar Abdul Razak also commented on the incident.
He stated that while police have the right to enforce laws, they do not have the authority to destroy homes or beat citizens.
He noted that the Islamabad SHO’s remarks could be considered a criminal act and suggested that disciplinary action should be taken against him.
The Islamabad police department has yet to respond to the controversy, leaving many wondering whether Warraich will face consequences for his remarks.
Cases of police brutality and mishandling of civilians continue to surface across the country.
Previously, another incident in Multan sparked outrage when a police officer was caught on video assaulting an elderly man riding a motorcycle.
