Shakti Kapoor’s son Siddhanth Kapoor was taken into custody by the Bengaluru police on June 13, 2022, due to an alleged drug controversy.
He was arrested by the police after getting caught at a rave party on June 12.
The actor along with five others has been detained as per ANI. His sample was among the six that tested positive for marijuana consumption.
Dr Bheemashankar S Guled, DCP, East division, Bengaluru City told the outlet:
“Siddhanth Kapoor has tested positive for drugs. He has been brought to Ulsoor Police Station.”
After his arrest, videos from the party surfaced online and one of them saw Siddhanth Kapoor DJing.
The police are yet to confirm whether the Jazbaa actor had consumed drugs during the gathering or before the event.
The Bengaluru police had received a tip, that led them to raid the hotel on MG road where the party was underway.
Police sources said: “Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor’s brother has been detained by police.
“As of now as his samples have come positive for drugs. He’s one among six people to have consumed drugs.”
Siddhanth Kapoor had left Mumbai for Bengaluru on June 12 and the incident took place later that night.
His family was unaware of his whereabouts and what hotel he was staying at.
According to ETimes, upon hearing the news of his son’s arrest, Shakti Kapoor expressed his disbelief. He said: “It’s not possible.”
Further, speaking to HT City, the actor said: “I’m in Mumbai and I don’t know what is happening.
“I got to know from news channels only. All I know as of now is that there is no arrest and Siddhanth has only been detained.”
Shakti Kapoor added: “Yes, he is a DJ (disc jockey) and he plays at parties, and that’s what he was in Bengaluru for.
“I don’t know where are all these reports coming from.
“I will talk to my son very soon and know the details. But I know this can’t be true.”
Siddhanth Kapoor has acted in several Hindi films such as Shootout at Wadala, Chehre and Ugly.
He has also worked as an assistant director in movies like Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Chup Chup Ke, Dhol, and Bhagam Bhag.
Back in 2020, actor and sister of Siddhanth, Shraddha Kapoor had also been called in for questioning in a drug case.
The case had emerged during the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The Aashiqui actor confirmed attending Sushant’s Chhichhore success party but denied the consumption of any drugs.
