"Priya and I have tested positive for Covid."
John Abraham and his wife Priya Runchal have contracted Covid-19. Both are currently isolating at home.
The actor made the revelation on Instagram on January 3, 2022.
The Bollywood star revealed that he came into contact with a Covid positive person three days before.
On Instagram Stories, John said:
“I came in contact 3 days ago with someone who I later learned had Covid.
“Priya and I have tested positive for Covid. We have been quarantined at home so haven’t been in contact with anyone else.”
John Abraham went on to say that he and his wife are both experiencing mild symptoms.
He added: “We are both vaccinated and experienced mild symptoms. Please stay well and healthy. Masks up.”
The rise in the Omicron variant has seen several Bollywood personalities test positive for the virus.
The likes of Mrunal Thakur, Nora Fatehi and Shilpa Shirodkar shared that they have tested positive for Covid-19.
Actor Arjun Kapoor, his cousin and producer Rhea Kapoor, and her husband Karan Boolani had also tested positive for Covid-19. Arjun’s sister Anshula Kapoor was also diagnosed with Covid-19.
One high-profile incident saw a number of guests who attended Karan Johar‘s dinner party test positive, prompting healthcare officials to sanitise his home.
Kareena Kapoor, who also attended the dinner party, announced she had tested positive.
Amrita Arora stated that she contracted the virus while the positive tests of Seema Khan and Maheep Kapoor also came to light.
The three women had also been at Karan Johar’s house for the gathering on December 8, 2021.
In a statement on behalf of Kareena, the actress caught Covid-19 at an “intimate” gathering where another guest “seemed unwell and was coughing”.
The statement read: “Kareena has been extremely responsible throughout the lockdown period.
“She has been careful every time she’s stepped out. Unfortunately, this time she and Amrita Arora contracted Covid at an intimate dinner where a few friends had gathered to catch up.
“It wasn’t a big party as being reported. Among that group, there was one person who seemed unwell and was coughing, and who eventually passed it on.
“This person should have been responsible enough to not attend the dinner and put others at risk.
“As soon as she tested positive she has quarantined herself and is following the necessary precautions and protocols to deal with the condition.
“It is not fair to put the blame on her and say that she has been irresponsible and let her guard down.
“Kareena is a responsible citizen and also has the concern and care for safeguarding her family.”
