Celebrated Bangladeshi composer and singer Emon Chowdhury is set to take the global stage with his band Bengal Symphony at the Osaka Expo 2025 in Japan..
The group will perform on May 11, 2025, during the highly anticipated Bangladesh Country Day.
They will represent the country’s musical heritage on one of the world’s biggest cultural platforms.
The band confirmed the news through their official Facebook page, posting vibrant photos from the airport as they prepared to depart.
In one caption, they wrote: “With one piece of Bangladesh together – to represent Bangladesh, we are going with the Bengal Symphony to perform at the Osaka Expo, Japan 2025.
“I want to express my gratitude to respected Mostofa Sarwar Farooki brother, Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Academy.
“Please keep everyone blessed. Love.”
In a separate post, the band added: “Bengal Symphony is truly delighted to be a part of such a grand event! All updates are coming soon.”
The excitement around their participation is growing, especially after a strong start to their journey earlier in 2025.
Bengal Symphony was formed in early 2025 after Emon Chowdhury parted ways with the popular band Chirkut in 2023 to pursue his solo vision.
The group made its official debut in January 2025, with the release of the track ‘Phul Neya Bhalo Noy’.
Filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, a vocal supporter of Bangladesh’s cultural ambassadors, also took to social media to express his enthusiasm.
He shared images of the band’s instruments, each customised with colourful traditional Bangladeshi motifs.
Farooki wrote: “Guitar, drum, sitar – all are getting a new look!
“Bengal Symphony is ready to rock the audience at Osaka Expo, Japan 2025. The biggest cultural asset we have is music!
“We are working to project it to the world in the best possible way!”
“Remember the show we did at UNESCO headquarters this February? We promise to make the most of every opportunity that comes our way.”
Beyond his recent ventures, Emon is also known for his significant contributions to film music.
His work has earned praise for tracks like ‘Shada Shada Kala Kala’, ‘Atta Baje Deri Korish Na’, ‘Dhire Dhire’, and ‘Ghumta Tule Bodon Khule’.
His distinctive blend of traditional and contemporary styles has earned him a loyal following and critical acclaim.
Now, with Bengal Symphony, Emon Chowdhury embarks on a new chapter.
