DESIblitz.com has teamed up with THSH (The Town Hall and Symphony Hall) in Birmingham, to bring you an exclusive competition to win two free tickets to see the one and only Asha Bhosle live in concert at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham on the 18th March 2011.
This concert is going to be very special and will feature the legendary Bollywood playback singer teaming up with sitar virtuoso and vocalist Shujaat Khan to perform works from their new album Naina Lagai Ke (I Rue Having Locked Eyes With You), as well as some special Bollywood hits from yesteryears.
The album draws from traditional Indian music and focuses heavily on vocals, resulting in a showcase of Asha’s supreme vocal ability and versatility, alongside Shujaat’s exceptional voice and masterful sitar playing.
In the words of Asha and Shujaat:
‘It’s been a wonderful experience recording with each other because we come from different schools of music and each of us has had to adapt to the other’s style. The marvelous part, really, was that we recorded the music and vocals live – something that hasn’t been done for years and years. We throw little vocal challenges at each other, and this game of one one-upmanship has resulted in some beautiful vocal renditions … we are really proud of the effort!’
The concerts are promoted by Saregama. The duo will perform at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Wednesday 16th March 2011, at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham on Friday 18th March 2011 and De-Montford Hall in Leicester on Sunday 20th March.
