The former Australian cricketer, Brett Lee, took to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to Indian singing icon Asha Bhosle.

The Indian singing legend, Asha Bhosle sadly died on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92.

Since her demise, tributes have been pouring in for the iconic playback singer.

One of these tributes came from the Australian former international cricketer, Brett Lee.

Lee and Bhosle collaborated on the song, ‘You’re The One For Me‘ (2006).

Posting a picture of himself and the singer, Lee wrote on Instagram:

“I had the pleasure of writing and recording ‘You’re the One for Me’ with Asha Bhosle back in 2006.

“It’s something I’ll always be incredibly grateful for.

“What stayed with me most wasn’t just her extraordinary talent, but how kind and humble she was.

“For someone who had achieved so much in her life, she carried herself with such warmth and generosity.

“My thoughts are with her family and friends at this time.

“I feel very fortunate to have shared even a small moment with someone so special.

“There’s no doubt her legacy will live on for generations to come.”

Asha Bhosle passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest and subsequent multi-organ failure.

Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, announced that this was the result of extreme exhaustion.

Bhosle began her singing career at the age of ten in 1943.

Over eight decades, she recorded songs under some of the most famous names in Bollywood music.

These included SD Burman, OP Nayyar, Shankar–Jaikishan, and RD Burman, whom she later married in 1980.

Bhosle was the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar, and she worked with legendary singers of her time.

She sang songs with icons, including Mukesh, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Manna Dey.

The recipient of several awards, Bhosle won many Filmfare Awards and was bestowed with two National Film Awards.

In 2000, the Government of India conferred her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award – India’s highest accolade in cinema.

In 2008, she was awarded the Padma Vibhushan – India’s second-highest civilian honour.

The Guinness Book of World Records identified Asha Bhosle as the most recorded artist in music in 2011, with over 12,000 songs to her name.

On Monday, April 13, 2026, Bhosle was given a state funeral with full honours.

Meanwhile, Brett Lee was regarded as one of the world’s fastest bowlers during his international career.

He won several ICC titles with the Australian team, including the 2003 Cricket World Cup, the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, and the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy.
