"I guess some news channels have become travel agents"

Arjun Rampal requested the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to give him some time before he appears in front of them. After citing personal reasons, the actor will appear on December 22, 2020.

However, after seeking extra time, it has been rumoured that he has left India.

Netizens and reporters speculated that he left the country, fuelling rumours that he is involved in the case.

On December 19, 2020, Arjun took to Twitter and firmly shut down the rumours, stating that he is “very much in the country”.

He explained that he is currently busy with his professional commitments.

Arjun wrote on Twitter: “Very much in the country, in fact just doing promotions for #nailpolish I guess some news channels have become travel agents… lol #FakeNews.”

Arjun Rampal had been summoned by the NCB for a second time in relation to the Bollywood drugs case.

The actor has already been questioned previously as well as his partner Gabriella Demetriades. Her brother was arrested.

An NCB officer said: “The facts revealed by the actor previously in his statement contradict the information revealed by the other accused.

“Also, there are new facts that have emerged during the ongoing investigation, hence he needed to be questioned again.”

Arjun was first summoned in November 2020 following a raid on his house.

He was subsequently questioned for seven hours after his friend Paul Bartel was arrested in a drug-related case. It had been reported that Bartel was in contact with Gabriella’s brother Agisialos.

NCB officers had discovered that Agisialos was in contact with many Bollywood celebrities over the alleged procurement of drugs.

Agisialos was arrested in October 2020 and was found in possession of Alprazolam tablets and hashish.

He was allegedly connected to a drugs racket who supplied drugs to Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik and other people who were arrested for their involvement in the drugs case related to Sushant Singh Rajput.

Analysis of his electronic devices showed that he was in touch with Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda, both who are linked with Rhea and Showik Chakraborty.

Agisialos has since been released on bail.

The NCB has been investigating a drugs angle in relation to the tragic death of actor Sushant.

Throughout the investigation, they have arrested 28 people, including celebrities like Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa.

Previously, top stars like Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh have also been questioned by the NCB officials.
