"The best things in life happen unexpectedly."
The Apprentice stars Harpreet Kaur and Akshay Thakrar have confirmed they’re dating by posting a series of snaps on Instagram.
Harpreet became Lord Sugar’s latest business partner after her dessert parlours won him over.
With the entrepreneur just about having got over the madness of her journey on the BBC One show, she’s now announced some more good news.
In an adorable post shared on August 12, 2022, she revealed she and co-star Akshay, 28, who was a fan-favourite candidate, are now in a relationship with each other.
She shared three photos of the pair, with the caption: “The best things in life happen unexpectedly.
“I love sharing my Oh So Yum business journey with you all but this time…. it’s a personal one.”
Harpreet continued: “Since coming out of The Apprentice house, my life has been a complete whirlwind in more ways than one.
“Over the past three months, a special someone has swept me unexpectedly off my feet & I cannot wait to see where this journey takes us @akshay.thakrar.”
In one picture, the couple dressed to impress, with Harpreet clad in a black off-the-shoulder dress and Akshay donning a dapper black suit and open-collar white shirt.
The second snap was a selfie of the couple and the third showed the pair beaming to the camera as they enjoyed dinner.
The Apprentice champion cut a casual figure in a white jumper for the final snap which she accessorised with a gold choker necklace.
Akshay beamed wearing a leather jacket as the couple sat in a booth at a lavish restaurant.
Fans of the entrepreneur, as well as other The Apprentice stars, quickly responded to the update, with Amy Anzel writing: “Ah such lovely news! Congrats guys.”
Aaron Willis, who also appeared on this year’s series, commented: “Yes yes yes, what a great post to read. Congratulations guys.”
Harpreet’s fellow finalist Kathryn Burn, who has become firm friends with her former competitor, added:
“My favourite couple ever. So so happy for you both and can’t wait to share this journey with you. Love you both xxxxx.”
Akshay himself quickly acknowledged the news with a very sweet response:
“So happy you’re mine. Excited for what’s to come!”
Despite failing to win most of the challenges during his seven-week-long stint on The Apprentice, Akshay Thakrar won over viewers, and Lord Sugar, with his hilarious comments throughout the process.
In an exclusive interview with DESIblitz in April 2022, Harpreet Kaur reflected upon her win.
She said: “Winning The Apprentice is an absolute dream come true.
“And to be the first South Asian to win as well as being female makes me really proud and I’m so glad I am able to represent our community in a positive light.
“I loved being part of an all-female final. We were so supportive of each other.”
