"We really enjoyed seeing each other’s culture."
Harpreet Kaur and Akshay Thakrar, who both appeared on The Apprentice in 2022, went public with their romance shortly after the series ended.
Just under a year later, they got engaged following a romantic proposal in London.
The pair opened up to OK! after their wedding, sharing that the nuptials felt like a “movie.”
“The only way I can describe our wedding is that it felt like a movie, it was amazing,” Akshay told the magazine in the days following the extravaganza.
Harpreet added: “I just wish we could do it all again, it went even better than we planned!”
The festivities began with a civil ceremony at Wentbridge House Hotel, a country house in Yorkshire, on May 29, 2024.
Walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of Bruno Mars’ ‘Just The Way You Are,’ Harpreet wore a gown with floral detailing and a veil from Enzoani.
After the outdoor ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed a traditional roast dinner.
Discussing how they merged the traditions of their different cultures, Akshay explained: “Harps is Punjabi and I’m a Gujarati Hindu, so we wanted to merge traditions from each.
“Our families loved that, and we really enjoyed seeing each other’s culture.”
The next day, Akshay arrived in a white Rolls-Royce with a personalised number plate for their religious ceremony, which took place at Hare Krishna Temple in Watford.
Both bride and groom dressed in ivory ensembles, with Harpreet adorned with stunning henna and gold jewellery.
Reflecting on their love story, Akshay said: “It’s crazy – what a story that we met on the show.
“I said in my speech, ‘I think I’m the only man who can say I met my wife on The Apprentice.’”
Although Lord Sugar was unable to attend the events, the couple celebrated their marriage alongside The Apprentice star Tim Campbell and their former co-stars Kathryn, Brittany, Akeem, and Nick.
The festivities concluded with a wedding reception, giving the couple and their numerous guests a chance to let their hair down.
Akshay looked suave in a suit, while Harpreet was a vision in a red gown from Bibi London Couture.
The newlyweds will soon be jetting to the Seychelles for their honeymoon, followed by a trip to Dubai.
When asked if tying the knot means they’ll be starting a family anytime soon, Harpreet said: “We would love to start a family. We’re going to wait though – we’ve only been together for two years.
“I want to appreciate each other and travel first. We have time.”
