Pakistani music lovers have welcomed the news.

Apple Music has officially launched in Pakistan, arriving eleven years after the streaming service first made its global debut in 2015.

Apple updated its Availability of Apple Media Services tab recently to confirm that the service is now officially listed as available in the country.

Pakistani music lovers have welcomed the news enthusiastically, having waited over a decade for the platform to reach their shores.

The subscription pricing for Pakistani users is now visible within the Apple Music app and is structured across two distinct plan options.

An Individual plan offering unlimited music for one person is priced at PKR 379 per month, making it an accessible option for solo listeners.

The Family plan, which covers multiple users under a single subscription, is priced at PKR 649 per month for those looking to share access.

Both plans come with a one-month free trial period, after which subscriptions automatically renew on a monthly basis.

Apple Music Classical, which is a separate service from the main streaming platform, has not yet been made available in Pakistan alongside the main launch.

The arrival of Apple Music in Pakistan brings the country in line with several regional neighbours where the service has been available for years.

India, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Indonesia and Japan are among the Asian and Middle Eastern markets that had already been enjoying Apple Music access.

For Apple device users in Pakistan, the most significant practical change is that the service is now fully integrated into the local Apple ecosystem.

Subscribers can access Apple Music directly through the Music app on compatible devices without needing to switch regions or use a different regional account.

The workarounds that Pakistani music fans had relied on for years, including borrowing foreign accounts and switching App Store regions, are now entirely unnecessary.

The launch does not mean that all of Apple’s services are now available in Pakistan, but Apple Music represents a notable and welcome addition.

Pakistan’s experience of waiting for major streaming platforms to arrive is unfortunately not a new one for the country’s digital entertainment community.

Spotify, which launched globally in 2008, did not reach Pakistani shores until 2021.

The Apple Music launch follows a familiar pattern, but the eleven-year wait has finally come to an end for fans of the platform specifically.

Whether Apple Music will win over Pakistani users who have already committed to Spotify over the past several years remains to be seen.

Spotify has had a five-year head start in building its Pakistani user base and establishing itself as the default streaming platform for local audiences.
