"We want to protect the privacy of our child"
Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and cricketer husband Virat Kohli have become parents to a baby girl on January 11, 2021.
The captain to the Indian cricket team took to social media to announce the birth of his daughter.
On January 11, 2021, Virat took to Twitter writing:
“We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon.
“We thank you all for your love, prayers and good wishes. Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives.
“We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Love, Virat.”

Virat and Anushka are one of the biggest celebrity couples in the country and it is not surprising that all eyes are glued to get a glimpse of their baby.
Their pregnancy announcement in August 2020 had turned out to be the most-liked tweet of 2020.
Following the announcement of their daughter’s birth, the couple appealed to the paparazzi to refrain from taking pictures of their newborn daughter.
On January 13, 2021, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli sent a note to the paparazzi fraternity in Mumbai, which read:
“Hi, Thank you for all the love that you have given us all these years.
“We are happy to celebrate this momentous occasion with you. As parents, we have a simple request to make to you.
“We want to protect the privacy of our child and we need your help and support.”
The couple established that they will ensure that the paparazzi get the content featuring both the stars and requested them to not carry any piece that features their child.
An excerpt from their statement read:
“While we will always ensure that you get all the content you need featuring us, we would request you to kindly not take or carry any content that has our child.
“We know that you will understand where we are coming from and we thank you for the same.”
To safeguard their privacy, the celebrity couple has also put some strict restrictions at the Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai.
The couple has not allowed even close relatives to visit them at the hospital.
They have decided to not accept any flowers or other gifts in the hospital.
The security is so tight that even visitors in nearby rooms and other hospital staff are not allowed to even get a sneak peek into Anushka’s room.
With such strong security, paparazzi are reportedly waiting outside the hospital to capture the first glimpse of the newborn baby girl.
