Amir Khan is facing a potential High Court battle after denying allegations involving sex tapes and blackmail.

The former boxing champion and his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, have reportedly launched a libel lawsuit against solicitor Faryaal Hussain after she made the claims on a podcast in 2023.

Khan and his wife, who want up to £100,000 in damages, deny the allegations, calling them false, malicious and unproven.

Khan was also accused of sending unsolicited naked photos to women.

Hussain’s 21-page defence document, filed at the High Court this month, sets out detailed claims against Khan and his wife.

He allegedly sent messages to women via social media.

One allegation claims he recorded a woman during an intimate act.

She then received an “aggressive call” from Khan, Hussain claims.

It is alleged that he told the woman that if the public knew what had happened, it “would jeopardise his hit reality show Meet the Khans“.

The documents also say Makhdoom made threats.

Another woman allegedly began speaking to Khan in 2023 and was promised £20,000, according to the defence filing.

The court paperwork claims Khan sent “frequent late-night messages containing sexualised compliments and intrusive questions” about her body.

Hussain is relying on a truth defence against the defamation claim. Under UK defamation law, allegations are not considered libellous if they can be proven to be substantially true on the balance of probabilities.

If the case proceeds to trial, Khan and Makhdoom could both be called to give evidence in court.

David Lemer, the barrister acting for Hussain, said:

“The defendant acted out of a genuine concern for public safety, did not seek to profit from the publication and has not profited from [it].

“She considered the matters identified, and the claimants’ conduct towards the women were of the utmost public importance.”

In an Instagram post, Hussain shared screenshots of the report by the Daily Mail and explained her reasoning:

“I took to social media because I believed the matters I raised were of genuine public interest.”

“My commitment to advocating for women and speaking up on issues that affect their safety, dignity and wellbeing remains unchanged.”

Amir Khan won a silver medal for Team GB at the 2004 Olympic Games before becoming a world champion boxer. He retired from professional boxing in 2022.

Khan and Makhdoom married in 2013. The couple briefly split in 2017 after Khan was accused of cheating with nine women before later reconciling.

In 2023, Khan publicly said he would undergo therapy to stop sexting women.

No trial date has yet been scheduled by the High Court.
