"Welcome to Spy Universe, Alia."
In an exciting turn of events, the title of Alia Bhatt’s upcoming YRF film has been announced.
News in recent months suggested that Alia would star in the first female-led film within YRF’s Spy Universe.
The star took to X to announce that her new film is titled Alpha.
In a short video clip that began with the YRF Spy Universe logo, Alia Bhatt said in a voiceover:
“The first letter of the Greek alphabet and our programme’s motto is the very first, the fastest, the bravest.
“If you look closely, every city has a jungle. And every jungle is ruled by an alpha.”
The announcement elicited enthusiastic responses from fans.
One fan wrote: “Overall, the Alpha trailer promises an adventure that’s both thrilling and heartwarming.
“It’s a reminder that even in the harshest of environments, the power of friendship can help us overcome any obstacle.”
Another said: “Such a cool announcement! Welcome to Spy Universe, Alia.”
A third added: “Welcome to the Spy Universe. Best wishes for this.”
Alpha will be directed by Shiv Rawail and will also star Sharvari Wagh.
Filming for the project is currently underway.
In March 2024, YRF’s CEO Akshaye Widhani confirmed that Alia Bhatt would lead a standalone film in the Spy Universe.
He explained: “As one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it.
“So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come in the spy universe.
“We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it.
“But, of course, not going to share everything here.
“We will talk about it at a more opportune time.
“For now, I can say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film.”
The YRF Spy Universe is also gearing up for War 2 which stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR.
It will be the sixth instalment in the franchise.
The series reportedly also has the likes of Pathaan 2 and Tiger vs Pathaan in the works.
Meanwhile, Alia will also be seen in the upcoming Love & War. It features her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
The project marks her second collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022).
Alia Bhatt was last seen in her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone (2023).
She will next star in Jigra.
