"He's such a lovely guy. I've spent a lot of time with now."
Adam Azim spoke about the advice he received from Amir Khan as he aims for a world title fight in 2023.
The 20-year-old fought five times in 2022, winning each of them by stoppage.
With an undefeated 7-0 record, Azim said he expects more high-profile fights.
He told Sky Sports: “We’re going to see what my team has in store for me.
“Next year is definitely going to be a lot of title shots and title fights, a lot more great nights.”
He said he has turned to Amir Khan for advice.
Azim continued: “Amir Khan has paved the way for British Asians in boxing. He’s such a lovely guy. I’ve spent a lot of time with now.
“He tells me what he did in training, he tells me different types of stuff to do in training, what he used to do when he was younger.
“He’s been in massive fights, like [Marcos] Maidana, [Devon] Alexander, he’s fought in so many big fights and he can give me advice in future in my career.”
Adam Azim previously said that he wants to win a world title faster than Khan, who became a champion at 22.
Speaking about his win over Rylan Charlton, Azim said:
“A lot of people didn’t expect me to do that to Rylan.
“Obviously I broke him down, placed the shots right and got the explosive knockout that I needed.
“My left-hand work is brilliant, Rylan tried coming at me but if you stand off and don’t attack me during the fight it’s easier for me to break him down and select my shots. He couldn’t cope with the speed and the power.
“I don’t want to be fighting people down at journeyman level, I want to be fighting people that have been in with top-level fighters.
“I want to grab these titles like the Commonwealth, European and get my name bigger.”
“Amir Khan became world champion at 22, it would be great if I could be world champion just before 22.”
Adam Azim wants to win a title before turning 22 and then proceed to become undisputed within two years, meaning he would be in the vicinity of Devin Haney, who became undisputed at just 23 earlier in 2022 at lightweight.
He added: “Amir Khan won it really early, but I want to win it earlier and then I want to be undisputed by the time I’m 24.”
