When it comes to disco dance songs in Bollywood films, Mithun Chakraborty leads the pack.
After making his debut in Mrigayaa (1976), and appearing in a few other films, Mithun rocked Bollywood with his dance songs from the early 80s.
Through these dance numbers, viewers got to witness American rock and roll music, primarily courtesy of composer Bappi Lahiri.
The Mithun Chakraborty, Bappi Lahiri partnership was strong in songs from Disco Dancer (1982) and Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki. Babbar Subhash is the director of many of these songs.
Many of these groovy songs are set in disco or club environment. A few of them have been remixed and featured again across contemporary Bollywood cinema.

‘Ae Meri Awaz Ke Dosto’ is a popular disco dance song led by Mithun Chakraborty (Johny), with his sidekick Arti Gupta (Rita).
Mithun and his co-star are dressed in glittering white stage clothing. Mithun is wearing glasses and holding a mic, reaffirming his character’s singing status.
Besides upper body dance movements, Mithun is also twisting and tip-toeing his feet. In fact, he energises the track using his lower body.
He performs many of his usual disco trademarks in this song, which is sung by Amit Kumar. The RD Burman composition is a favourite amongst fans, with over 1.9 million YouTube hits.

‘I am a Disco Dancer’ is n energetic and punchy dancing song featuring Mithun Chakraborty (Anil/Jimmy).
This song was instrumental in popularising disco dance in the 80s and onwards. In the visuals, Mithun appears in a golden and black outfit, along with headgear.
The video song starts with Mithun jumping in the air, twisting to both sides with a guitar and holding a mic, uttering the first few words by singer Vijay Benedict.
Mithun dances vigorously to the magical rock and roll kind of music by eminent composer Bappi Lahiri.
Mithun definitely adopts the style of legendary Elvis Presley in this famous song from the Babbar Subhash directorial.
This dance song was on top of all major charts across Indian and in Russia where Mithun has a huge following.
‘Ae Oh Ha Zara Mudke’ – Disco Dancer (1982)
‘Ae Oh Ha Zara Mudke’ is a very pacy disco dance number featuring Mithun Chakraborty (Anil Jimmy) and actress Kim (Rita Oberoi) in it. This is also from the film Disco Dancer.
Mithun is in all white with a silver belt like style embodied around his waist. He is undoubtedly the dancing showstopper in this song.
The song opens with Mithun dancing around Kim, whilst she runs away from him. There is a group of dancers around him as he remains the centre focal point in this dance song.
His cool and flamboyant dance includes lying on the floor, performing to some excellent bridge moves. Posting his thoughts on YouTube, a fan wrote:

Legendary vocalist Kishore Kumar (late) is the singer of this successful discotheque dance song.

‘Beraham Tune Kiya’ – Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki (1984)
‘Beraham Tunne Kiya is a famous disco dance number, starring Mithun Chakraborty (Avinash S. Kumar). Babbar Subhash directs this song once again, with Vijay Benedict on the vocals.
Mithun in a black western attire is seen shaking his leg to the disco style music of Bappi Lahiri. His dance moves include the customary pelvic thrust, along with several arm and head movements.
He has a few male and female extras dancing with him. The villain late Amrish Puri (Udhaybhan Singh) also features in the song as Mithun makes a point to him through his dance.
There is also a flashback scene in the video too, which reflects an element of pain in his dance. A YouTube fan, complimenting Mithun and his dance said:

Fans of Mithun will really enjoy this kickass dance song, which gives a deeper insight into his double role characters.
‘Super Dancer’ – Dance Dance (1987)
‘Super Dancer’ is a hit disco dance song, which stars Mithun Chakraborty (Ramu/Romeo) and late Smita Patil (Radha) in the video directed by Babbar Subash.
Right from the go, it seems Mithun is hoping to impress the reel and real audience, along with the judges in the song.
Donned in a white outfit, the smiley Mithun performs fast dance moves to the vocals of Alisha Chinai and music composer Bappi Lahiri.
There are a lot of jumping, twisting and full-body movements in a traditional western dance form.
The high energy dance song is fairly long but just about right, lasting virtually six minutes in duration. Shakti Kapoor is also in the song, playing the drums.
Shakti later joins Mithun and Smita on the dance floor, with female dancers in the background.
