Real estate has become a big business for people around the world and that includes purchasing luxury houses.

Whether it be for living or as an investment, people are buying houses while new ones are being developed.

This is also the case in India.

In India, houses are much better value for money than in other countries, with even the cheapest properties containing many lavish extras.

Not only that but they are also situated in affluent areas within their respective cities.

This poses the question – what does £1 million get you in India?

Whether you do have a spare £1 million or are just curious about what the money can buy you, here are five luxury houses in India that you can buy for £1 million.

This property is a hidden gem, away from the busy city.

But it is just 20 minutes from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport and is also close to major educational institutions and hospitals.

This house is ideal for families looking for a lavish holiday home.

Uttar Pradesh: Noida

This is a gorgeous bungalow that has seven bedrooms with en suite bathrooms.

It is an architectural blend of curves as its facade stands out in the Sector 48 neighbourhood.

Upon entering the property, you are welcomed by a spacious lounge which leads you to the large living room on the ground floor.

This is next to a small patio, the perfect place to unwind.

The dining room is designed in a way so that the kitchen and living room are both accessible. Meanwhile, the kitchen comes fully equipped and has wooden cabinets with ample storage space.

The other side of the lounge leads to the basement through a spiral staircase which takes you to a lit-up water fountain next to the nine-seat home theatre.

On the first floor is a master bedroom that is brought to life thanks to lots of natural light.

Connecting the floors is a lift while the driveway has enough space for four cars.

This luxury property also has a gym as well as a sauna and jacuzzi and at £814,000, there is a lot of spare money to make renovations.

Haryana: Sohna Gurgaon

Those looking for a farmhouse should check out this exquisite property in Haryana.

This property is unique, having been designed using vintage techniques.

The route from the gate to the house is a cobbled road which leads you to an oval-shaped majestic porch with shallow domes and the main door has a Peepul tree as its design inspiration.

The entrance has four stained glass windows depicting the four seasons with the tree of life running through them.

The main door opens into the central courtyard with eight teak wood pillars transported from a Kerala Nalukettu home.

Both guest rooms have en suite bathrooms as does the master bedroom, complete with a stone bathtub, shower area and steam room.

The dining and kitchen areas highlight the property’s combination of indoor and outdoor living thanks to high ceilings, allowing for more natural light to enter.

At £1 million, this property has a rustic farm look but is spacious.

Maharashtra: Colaba

This rooftop home in the upscale area of Colaba is well-supplied with stunning sunrise and sunset views of the Arabian Sea and Mumbai’s skyline.

It is an elegant property that comprises of two large terraces, overlooking the glorious seascape.

It also has a dining and living area, a bedroom with an adjoining balcony and en suite bathroom, and a family kitchen.

As it is the only apartment on the highest floor of the private building, this penthouse in Colaba benefits tremendously from the lack of road noise and pollution, as well as excellent ventilation and natural light.

The home is conveniently positioned on the main road, adjacent to prominent hotels, schools, fine dining restaurants, business hubs, and connecting highways to the suburbs.

At £780,000, this property may not be an obvious choice but it still offers luxury nonetheless.

By looking at these luxury houses, it is evident that you would be getting more for your £1 million than you would for properties in other countries.

Many of these houses cost less than £1 million which means that the leftover funds could be used to make any changes that you prefer.

The properties in India look different from one another but they appear to be much more stylish and spacious.

A mixture of interior inclusions as well as the area that they are in may persuade house hunters to consider India as a place to live.
