"I feel guilty that I declared them wrongdoers."

Zahid Ahmed has apologised after his strong remarks about content creators triggered backlash and an intense debate across social media.

The actor, known for his performances in Ishq Zah e Naseeb and Gentleman, faced severe criticism following a podcast appearance.

During the podcast, he described social media as “the work of the devil.”

Zahid expressed deep frustration over modern digital culture and said that people who create content on such platforms “will go to hell.”

He added that he considered sharing personal lives online as morally wrong and called social media “the invention that has harmed humanity the most.”

His words spread rapidly, prompting an uproar from content creators who accused him of hypocrisy and double standards.

Alishba Anjum was among the first to respond, sharing Zahid’s old pictures with actresses and questioning his moral stance.

She wrote that talking about religion while working closely with women on stage and in dramas reflected inconsistency in his beliefs.

Adnan Zafar, popularly known as Ken Doll, also called out Zahid’s statement, saying that when actors do similar things, it is called art.

However, when content creators do it on social media, they are condemned.

Kanwal Aftab and Zarnab Fatima joined the criticism, asking if Zahid had been given authority to decide who goes to heaven or hell.

Kanwal even shared his video with the caption questioning whether he was now “distributing passes of Jannah.”

Following the heated backlash, Zahid released an apology, acknowledging that his comments were emotionally charged and poorly worded.

He said: “I feel guilty that I declared them wrongdoers.

“I have crossed my limits in sentiments.”

Zahid further clarified that his criticism was directed toward the creators of social media platforms, not individual influencers or users.

He admitted that since many young people listen to his talks about religion, his words could have sent the wrong message.

The actor also emphasised the importance of being responsible when discussing sensitive issues like faith, particularly for public figures.

He urged people to focus on positivity and understanding rather than division, asking for forgiveness from anyone who felt hurt.

Many social media users appreciated Zahid’s apology, praising him for showing humility and maturity in accepting his mistake.

Others, however, continued to highlight how his initial comments reflected a larger issue of moral policing within the entertainment industry.

Zahid Ahmed concluded by asking everyone to interpret his remarks with compassion, saying that only the Almighty can judge anyone’s faith or worth.
