A woman has been arrested after she admitted murdering her Indian husband and burying his body.
The incident happened in the tribal district of Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh.
On February 24, 2020, the 25-year-old woman turned up at her in-law’s house and told them that she hanged her husband and buried him in the bedroom after an argument in December 2019.
Janu Singh Gond then pleaded with them to dig up his body because she is being ‘haunted’ by him.
She told them: “Please dig him up because he is coming in my dreams.”
The in-laws informed the police and officers arrived at the house. They found the remains of Insaath Mohammed and sent it for a post-mortem.
Police have said that the post-mortem will determine whether the death was murder or suicide as Janu kept changing her statement.
Janu’s mother Parvati was also arrested.
Kusmi Police Station in-charge VN Yogi said:
“He worked with a private firm in Hyderabad. He and the girl came in contact through a wrong number call on her mobile phone around three years ago.”
Officers said that Insaath and Janu became close and they even lived together for some time in Hyderabad.
Officer Yogi said: “Once, he asked the girl to come to Katni, and from there he took her to Hyderabad. They returned together to Kamach village and he stayed at her house for a few days before returning to Hyderabad.
“After that, he often visited Kamach during his vacations and lived there. He would visit his parents in Satna for a couple of days, saying he didn’t want to leave. But he never told them about the girl.”
When Janu turned up at her in-law’s house. She said she had “hanged him with a length of rope” on December 7, 2019.
Despite not seeing or receiving a call from the Indian husband for two months, his parents did not suspect anything had happened.
Officer Yogi stated:
“She said she is confessing because she keeps seeing Insaath in her dreams.”
“His parents informed Ram Nagar police station in Satna, and she was arrested.”
Even though she told her in-laws that she killed her husband, Janu told police that Insaath hanged himself and she buried him out of fear.
According to the police, Parvati knew about Insaath’s death and burial but did not tell anyone.
Officer Yogi added:
“We have registered a case and the body is being sent to Rewa for forensic investigation. So far, our investigation has revealed that Insaath and the girl had a fight on December 7.”
