“He is arrested only based on chats.”
Before he was questioned, the son of Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, was spotted in a selfie with another man.
The picture has since gone viral following Aryan’s arrest for alleged possession and consumption of illegal drugs.
Aryan was arrested on the afternoon of October 3, 2021.
The NCB registered a case under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Officers seized 13 grams of cocaine, 21 grams of charas or hashish, 22 MDMA (ecstasy) pills and 5 grams of mephedrone.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) clarified that the man pictured with Aryan is not an officer.
The NCB issued the following statement:
“NCB categorically clarifies that the man in this picture with Aryan Khan is not an officer or employee of NCB.”
Before details about the cruise ship raid emerged, the selfie that showed Aryan and another man was widely shared via social media.
Aryan is accused alongside his friend Arbaaz Merchant and fashion designer Munmun Dhamecha.
The trio stood before a magistrate’s court which has remanded them to NCB custody till October 4, 2021.
Nupur Satija, Ishmeet Singh Chadha, Mohak Jaiswal, Gomit Chopra and Vikrant Chhokar are the other accused.
Satish Maneshinde, Aryan’s lawyer spoke in court and said:
“He did not have a boarding pass. He didn’t have any seats or cabins there.
“Secondly, according to the seizure, nothing has been found in his possession.
“He is arrested only based on chats.”
The raid was conducted by NCB’s zonal director Sameer Wankhede.
Sameer and his team went undercover and boarded the cruise ship after receiving a tip-off.
It has been claimed that after the NCB raided the cruise ship and detained many individuals, the ship was left to continue its journey.
The party continued with many still on board, including the children of politicians.
Reports have surfaced that Aryan broke down during his interrogation by officials and also confessed that he has been consuming drugs for years.
Claims have emerged that Aryan has been consuming drugs for the past four years, and used to take them while in the UK and Dubai, amongst other countries.
In court on October 4, 2021, Aryan argued that he cannot be responsible for the entire drugs seizure while his lawyer has called for him to be released on bail.
Meanwhile, the NCB are seeking for the 23-year-old to be remanded in custody until October 11, 2021.
Several Bollywood celebrities have offered their support to Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan.
Suniel Shetty asked for Aryan to be given a break while Pooja Bhatt said that she stands in solidarity with Shah Rukh Khan.
Salman Khan was spotted visiting Shah Rukh Khan at this house, perhaps to offer his support.
Currently, the man seen with Aryan remains a mystery.
