Liverpool were confirmed as the 2024/25 Premier League champions after their resounding victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

It was their second Premier League title and their 20th top-flight crown overall, drawing them level with Manchester United.

The title win sparked celebrations across the red half of Merseyside.

But lifting the Premier League Trophy is only part of the story when a club finishes first.

We look at what clubs and players are rewarded with for becoming the league champions.

The Trophy

Liverpool will receive the Premier League Trophy, complete with red-and-white ribbons in the club’s colours.

There are two identical trophies, each engraved with the names of previous champions.

One remains with the Premier League holders during the season, while the other stays with the League.

Each trophy stands 3ft 5in (104cm) tall, measures 2ft (61cm) wide, and weighs 4st (25.4kg). The base alone, where the champions’ names are engraved, weighs 2.5st (15.9kg).

Clubs confirmed as champions before the final game are presented with the Premier League Trophy at their last home match.

For Liverpool, that will mean a presentation on the final day of the season against Crystal Palace on May 25.

It will be special for fans because it will be the first time Liverpool lifts the famous trophy at a packed Anfield.

In 2019/20, they celebrated the title in an empty stadium due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Medals

Alongside the Premier League Trophy, Liverpool will also receive 2024/25 winners’ medals.

According to the Premier League Handbook, the champions are given 40 commemorative medals.

These are distributed by the club to the manager, players, and staff as they see fit, though any player who has appeared in at least five league matches must receive one.

So far, 21 Liverpool players have met that threshold and will automatically be awarded a medal.

Do Liverpool get Prize Money?

What do Liverpool get for Winning the Premier League - money

In individual sports like golf or tennis, champions often receive a dedicated prize fund. But that’s not how it works in the Premier League.

There’s no specific prize fund for winning the title. Instead, the champions receive the highest merit payment from the Premier League’s central payments.

These merit payments are awarded on a sliding scale based on final league position – from 1st to 20th.

The team finishing top receives 20 times the base merit amount. The second-place club gets 19 times, and so on, down to the bottom club, which receives the base amount once.

Last season, Manchester City earned the highest merit payment, £22.6 million, as champions. Sheffield United, who finished bottom, received £1.1 million.

Winning the league also brings potential commercial advantages. Clubs often have sponsorship deals that include bonuses for success, and title wins can strengthen future negotiations.

However, being champions may also bring added costs, as player and staff contracts often include bonus clauses linked to league success.

Champions League & Community Shield

The Premier League champions are also guaranteed entry into next season’s UEFA Champions League.

In Liverpool’s case, this has already been secured as they confirmed a top-five spot.

They also earn the right to play in English football’s traditional curtain-raiser to the following season, the FA Community Shield.

The Premier League winners face the winners of the FA Cup, a week before the season starts.

For Liverpool, this means facing either Manchester City or Crystal Palace.

Wall of Champions

The Premier League winners, of course, also write their name in history.

Liverpool add their name to the Wall of Champions for the second time, becoming only the fifth club to have their name on there more than once.

Champions Sleeve Badge

Since 2015/16, the Premier League champions also wear a gold Premier League badge on their sleeves for the season in which they defend their title.

Teams like Liverpool get much more than just the Premier League Trophy.

From medals and merit payments to commercial boosts and a place in football history, the rewards are both symbolic and financial.

But for the Liverpool players, staff, and fans, the 2024/25 title will be remembered not only for what was won, but how it was earned.

And with their 20th league title secured, Liverpool have cemented their place among English football’s most successful clubs.
