“Thank you for believing in us!"
Shaniera Akram recently took to Instagram to share a loving gesture for her husband, former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram, on their 10th wedding anniversary.
Sharing a beautiful black-and-white photo of the pair embracing, Shaniera wrote:
“10 years married and I love you more than ever. Follow your heart, I did and I don’t regret a day!”
Shaniera then took a moment to thank her followers for their support towards her and her marriage.
She posted: “Thank you to all those out there who have continued to support our relationship and watched it grow throughout the years.
“We have appreciated all your positivity and love along the way.
“Thank you for believing in us! We will never forget it!”
Well-wishers flocked to congratulate the popular couple on their anniversary.
One individual commented: “Wishing you many years of togetherness and love always.”
Another added: “What a beautiful picture of you two. Happy Anniversary.”
One fan said: “You guys proved that love across the border can bloom forever.”
The love story of Shaniera and Wasim is nothing less than a fairy tale.
Shaniera is an Australian social worker, and Wasim was a hero in his cricketing career.
The pair met in 2011 at a mutual friend’s barbeque in Melbourne.
At the time, Shaniera was unaware of how famous Wasim Akram was.
Speaking on Time Out with Ahsan Khan, Wasim recalled:
“I met her at a friend’s BBQ in Melbourne. She [Shaniera] didn’t know who I was. Eventually, I told her that I was kind of a big deal in Pakistan.”
Speaking about her marriage to Wasim, Shaniera said that it was a big decision to make, as marrying somebody from a different culture and background was a big thing.
She said: “You don’t marry someone from overseas, from a different culture, background, and generation unless it’s something magnificent, right?
“Now for me, Pakistan is the centre of the world.”
“It’s an incredible place. I’ve grown here as a person, as a woman, as a mother, as a wife, and the most important years of my life have been here.”
Shaniera and Wasim married in 2013 in a ceremony in Lahore and together they have a daughter.
Wasim also has two sons from his previous marriage.
The pair also made their acting debut together in the 2023 film Money Back Guarantee.
