Vijay Mallya hosted a luxury wedding for his son Siddharth, who married his longtime girlfriend Jasmine.

Wanted in India over a loan fraud case worth over Rs. 9,000 Crore, Mallya had been declared bankrupt by the UK’s Insolvency and Companies Court of the High Court in July 2021.

Nevertheless, he held a grand wedding for his son.

The wedding took place at Vijay Mallya’s sprawling Ladywalk estate in Hertfordshire, worth £11 million.

The 30-acre property was previously owned by Anthony Hamilton, the father of F1 driver Lewis Hamilton.

The estate features three residences, several outhouses, swimming pools, tennis courts and extensive gardens.

On June 22, 2024, Siddharth and Jasmine tied the knot in a Christian ceremony.

Afterwards, they celebrated with a four-tier wedding cake and a customary first dance, with friends and family cheering them on.

Siddharth captioned a photo of the event:

“Mr & Mrs Muppet.”

The next day, the celebrations continued with a traditional Indian wedding. Jasmine donned a vibrant red lehenga.

Friends and family from around the world, including many American guests in Indian attire, gathered to celebrate.

Fashion designer Manoviraj Khosla attended the wedding and shared a glimpse of the menu, which included kadi patta burrata, pan-fried Atlantic sea bass and Kingfisher beer.

His caption read: “Nothing like a Kingfisher in London.”

Close family and friends attended the wedding but one guest grabbed attention – Lalit Modi.

Lalit Modi is on the run after being accused of money laundering, tax evasion and other charges.

He was suspended from the BCCI in 2010 for alleged financial irregularities and misconduct.

The BCCI accused Modi, the then-acting Chairman of the IPL Governing Council and officials of World Sports Group (WSG), of defrauding it of Rs. 735 Crore.

West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle was also part of the grand event.

Vijay Mallya fled India in March 2016 and has been living in the UK since then.

The promoter of Kingfisher Airlines, famously known as “The King of Good Times” for his lavish lifestyle, Mallya faces charges of money laundering and loan default in India.

The alcohol baron made his fortune selling beer under the brand Kingfisher and later launched his airlines and Formula 1 venture.

His airline, Kingfisher Airlines, was launched in 2003 and started commercial operations in 2005.

However, owing to mounting debt and losses, it ceased operations in 2012.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation in India (CBI) are investigating his case.

In July 2022, the Supreme Court sentenced Mallya to four months in jail for a 2017 contempt of court case.

India has made several attempts to extradite Mallya but has been unsuccessful so far.
