A number of kick-ass female characters in leading roles also entered the fray.
The official announcement of Fallout 4 at Bethesda’s first Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) press conference on June 14, 2015 fuelled the hype in California.
But other game developers were determined not to let Pipboy steal the limelight at the biggest gaming trade show in Los Angeles Convention Center.
Besides an exciting line-up of game titles to expect in 2015 and 2016, virtual reality (VR) also took centre stage at E3.
Sony showcased Project Morpheus, a VR headset equipped with a 5.7-inch 1080p OLED display and 120fps output. Rival Microsoft brought out HoloLens, an augmented reality (AR) headset that blends reality with VR.
Oculus Rift is another major contender in VR that promises to deliver a stunning 2160 x 1200 pixels at 90fps. So, get ready for a futuristic ride in the first VR game, Loading Human, coming in 2016.
A number of kick-ass female characters in leading and supporting roles also entered the fray – Evie Frye in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Emily in Dishonored 2 and Rae in Beyond Eyes to name but a few.
But for most gamers, the real stars of E3 will always be the big titles announced by developers and showcased by almost 200 exhibitors.
