"And second thing, you don’t drink it standing up."

One particular scene from the sixth episode of Umm-e-Ayesha has been making waves on Instagram.

In this scene, the protagonist Ayesha visits her colleague Mehwish.

She sees Mehwish drinking water and goes to correct her.

She says to Mehwish: “First thing, you drink water with your right hand, not your left.

“And second thing, you don’t drink it standing up. And the third thing, you should not waste it.”

Mehwish looked embarrassed as Ayesha corrected her way of drinking water in front of other co-workers.

Ayesha then said: “Finish it.”

Mehwish sat on the ground and drank the remaining water.

The viral scene has led to a mixed reaction.

While some viewers claimed Ayesha’s actions were justified, others criticised the public nature of her preaching.

They deemed it inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour.

A user wrote: “Our religion teaches us that if we have to correct someone’s mistakes, we have to do it alone.

“Not in the presence of others. Ayesha started preaching her in the middle of the office. Islam does not allow you to embarrass someone like this in public.”

Certain social media users perceive public preaching as arrogant, suggesting that it may come across as bothersome if repeated frequently.

Many opined that Ayesha could have addressed her colleague’s behaviour more discreetly.

One person said: “People like this in real life are extremely irritating.

“They think that they are the only ones who follow religion, so they feel entitled to interfere in other people’s personal matters.”

Despite the controversy surrounding this scene, fans continue to express their admiration for the drama and its underlying message.

They applaud Umm-e-Ayesha for its portrayal of cultural principles.

One said: “This is probably the first drama I have seen with a Hijabi as the protagonist. I hope our girls will learn some values from this.”
