"It was very exciting, you know?"
South African star Tyla and Nigerian icon Wizkid have finally dropped the highly anticipated music video for their collaboration, ‘Dynamite’.
Released as part of Tyla’s new EP WWP, the video blends sensual choreography and dramatic visuals.
It takes viewers from a Moroccan-inspired apartment to a sweeping desert backdrop, before culminating in a fiery explosion that nods to the track’s title.
The track was first recorded in 2022 but remained unreleased for three years.
Speaking on Capital XTRA Breakfast, Tyla explained the delay:
“We just didn’t end up finishing it. Like, we would talk about here and there, but it just didn’t happen.
“You know how things are. We both are very busy, and we have a lot of things that we are doing.
“So, I just feel like this is the right time for it, you know? We want to party, you know? So, yeah.”
On working with Wizkid, Tyla added: “It was very exciting, you know? Because at the time, I was very new.
“Like, a lot of people didn’t know me, so I didn’t expect him to be down for a session. But he was, and he liked some of the stuff I played him that I made at the time.
“And yeah, like, we literally made ‘Dynamite’.
“We made ‘Dynamite,’ and I was sitting on that demo for three years, like playing it and dancing in my room and just praying to God. Like, ‘God, one day the song is going to come out,’ and it’s coming out!”
‘Dynamite’ merges Tyla’s smooth vocals with Wizkid’s signature delivery, creating a continental sound that reflects African music’s global rise.
The single features on WWP, which was released on July 25, which also includes ‘Bliss’ and ‘Is It’.
Tyla’s packed 2025 has seen her team up with Lisa on ‘When I’m With You’ and contribute ‘Everything Goes With Blue’ to the Smurfs soundtrack.
Wizkid, meanwhile, continues to cement his status as one of Africa’s most influential music exports.
With the official video now live on YouTube and streaming platforms, ‘Dynamite’ is already drawing attention for its bold visuals and undeniable star power.
