The International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA 2019) took place on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, in Mumbai.
The award show celebrated its 20 years’ milestone on home soil at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium.
Hosting duties were handed over to the actor, Ayushmann Khurrana and his brother Aparshaki Khurana.
Known as one of Bollywood’s grandest award shows, Bollywood stars graced the event in stunning gowns and suits, yet some questionable choices.
From Deepika Padukone alongside her husband Ranvir Singh to Sara Ali Khan, the list of celebrities is endless. Many took home awards, while others made a fashion impact catching all the attention.
Here are some of the Bollywood actors and actresses who took to the green carpet at IIFA 2019.
Deepika Padukone is one of Bollywood’s most beautiful and talented actresses. For the award show, she was seen in an extravagant purple, beaded bodycon gown by Gaurav Gupta.
Complete with a feathered-style hem, off-shoulder bouffant sleeves and a lavish head trail, the outfit oozed pizazz.
Also, she kept her makeup matching the purple theme in her outfit. While jewellery was kept to a minimum with a pair of statement earrings.
Furthermore, her hair was sleeked back into her signature low bun.
However, some questioned her look. One user took to Twitter to state:
“Deepika got confused between IIFA and Met Gala.”
Despite, these harsh critics one thing is for sure Deepika carries her outfits with poise and elegance.
There is no question of what this man cannot do. Ranveer Singh started the fun-filled night with a version of Mere Gully Mein from the film Gully Boy.
The extravagant performance certainly enticed the audience.
While offstage Ranveer was seen in a two-piece suit by Moschino. The form-fitting blazer included thread work on the sleeves with a unique red scarf design incorporated into it.
Ranveer paired the attire with military-style boots, a cane, earrings and gold chain necklace.
This outfit style can be considered a modern-day rendition of a royal with an edge.
Furthermore, he sealed the night by taking home the Best Actor Award for his character Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat.
There is no IIFA green carpet without the gorgeous Katrina Kaif.
The stunning actress did not disappoint in her selection of attire for the special night of awards.
She arrived at the event in a gorgeous two-part ensemble which was a pale gold coloured lehenga.
The striking outfit was covered in crystals. Its semi-wrap style of the skirt highlighted a lovely thigh-high slit.
The intricate blouse came with exaggerated sleeves and was a very eye-catching element of the outfit.
The lehenga was accessorised with an uncut diamond neckpiece which was layered, matching tops on her ears and a ring.
This Bollywood beauty is an epitome of elegance. For the award show, Alia Bhatt wore a nude peach gown by Georges Chakra.
The elegant gown was designed with a ranched bodies, flowy skirt and off-shoulder cape sleeves. Alia was truly a vision of an angel.
Also, the large bow detailing at the back of the dress enhanced the stunning yet simple design.
She completed the look with nude makeup and a messy fishtail braid with side pieces curled to frame her face.
Moreover, she won the Best Actor Award for her performance in Raazi.
Bollywood’s heartthrob Shahid Kapoor was seen in a suave and sophisticated suit by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna.
The outfit comprised of an all-black ensemble. The figure-hugging blazer included black beading embellishment providing dimension.
While the matching black shirt and trousers complimented the blazer.
Furthermore, to complete the look Shahid paired the look with a pair of formal shoes.
Additionally, he wore his hair effortlessly relaxed with his finely trimmed beard adding to his overall smart vision.
Sara Ali Khan
Sara Ali Khan has already got everyone talking with her amazing acting skills. Now she has taken things higher with her fashion game.
At the IIFA 2019, she wore a stunning white gown by Gaurav Gupta. The alluring creation entailed an intricate bodice detailing which continues down the body.
Also, the embroidery throughout added dimension to the princess-style gown.

This princess opted for a simple yet glam makeup with the exclusion of accessories. She certainly allowed her outfit to do all the talking.
Furthermore, the actress won the Best Debut Award for the film, Kedarnath.
