"We seek your blessings and love on our journey ahead."
Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani got married in front of family and some of their closest celebrity friends at the Suryagarh Palace in Jaisalmer.
The wedding was said to have been a lavish affair with celebrity guests attending such as Karan Johar, Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput.
But things were kept fairly private at the traditional wedding, with security being deployed.
A no-phone policy was also implemented to prevent wedding pictures from being leaked.
The wedding took place a day after the originally scheduled date.
It is believed this was due to security being increased for the Ambani family. Kiara’s childhood friend Isha Ambani was among the guests.
The famous ‘Jea’ wedding band had arrived at the venue from Delhi.
Sidharth Malhotra made a grand entrance, arriving at the venue on a traditional white horse.
Prior to the wedding, several men – presumably part of the baraat – were seen wearing light pink outfits and holding umbrellas decorated with flowers.
For the ceremony, Kiara looked elegant in a shimmering pink ensemble from Manish Malhotra. The lehenga featured intricate details.
It contrasted with extravagant jewellery which featured emeralds.
Meanwhile, Sidharth opted for an off-white sherwani that featured gold detailing, giving it a regal edge
He completed the look with a golden turban.
In a joint statement, the newlyweds said:
“Ab humari permanent booking hogayi hai.
“We seek your blessings and love on our journey ahead.”
The pre-wedding ceremonies had taken place on February 6, 2023,
It was reported that the couple’s roka and chooda ceremonies took place before the sangeet, with the venue lit up in bright pink.
During the sangeet, Kiara’s brother Mishaal Advani performed a song he had written for the event. Sidharth reportedly joined him on stage.
Soon after, Karan Johar and Shahid Kapoor took to the stage and danced to ‘Kala Chashma’.
Kiara was reportedly blushing throughout the festivities, especially during songs from Shershaah.
Reportedly, the Indian folktronic duo Hari and Sukhmani performed.
The duo had earlier performed at Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal’s wedding.
At Sidharth and Kiara’s pre-wedding celebrations, Hari and Sukhmani sang a mix of English and Punjabi songs.
Although they have never publicly spoken about their relationship, it is believed that they grew close whilst filming Shershaah.
But they first met during the wrap-up party of Lust Stories.
Kiara recalled the meeting during an appearance on Koffee with Karan. She said:
“Funnily, Sid and I knew each other before we were cast together in Shershaah.”
“We started talking at the wrap-up party of Lust Stories – which we crashed. We casually met. I’ll never forget that night.”
Following their intimate wedding, the couple is set to host a grand reception in Mumbai that will be attended by leading Bollywood stars.
