“They interrogated me for about two hours.”
A man from Chhattisgarh has been arrested for allegedly issuing a death threat to Shah Rukh Khan.
The accused, identified as Mohammad Faizan Khan, a lawyer from Raipur, was taken into custody following a police investigation.
This was after a threatening call was traced back to a phone registered in his name.
The incident came to light when Faizan reportedly demanded Rs. 50 Lakh from the actor.
After receiving the complaint, Mumbai Police, travelled to Raipur to summon Faizan Khan for questioning.
However, he failed to appear, prompting police action.
Ajay Kumar, Superintendent of Police (CSP – Civil Lines), confirmed the arrest.
SP Kumar stated that Faizan Khan initially claimed his phone had been stolen on November 2, 2024.
Faizan also claimed that he had filed a complaint at the Khamardih Police Station.
Faizan explained in an interview: “I told the Mumbai police about it. They interrogated me for about two hours.”
The lawyer said that he was a victim of a conspiracy.
He suggested that the threat call made from his number was not from him but rather an intentional act by another party.
Faizan Khan also stated that his grievances with Shah Rukh Khan stem from the actor’s 1994 film Anjaam, which referenced deer hunting.
Expressing his discontent, he said: “I hail from Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community, which is from Rajasthan, is my friend.
“It is in their religion to protect deer. So, if a Muslim says something like this about deer, it is condemnable. Therefore, I objected.”
This incident is not isolated, as Shah Rukh Khan had previously received a death threat in October 2023.
This was following the success of his films Pathaan and Jawan.
In response to the threats, Mumbai Police increased the actor’s security detail.
They provided him with a Y+ security cover that includes six armed personnel at all times.
The climate of threats against Bollywood actors has intensified recently, with fellow actor Salman Khan also facing similar dangers.
Recently, a 32-year-old man from Rajasthan was arrested in Karnataka for issuing a death threat to Salman Khan.
This allegedly followed a demand from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
He sought an apology from Salman at a temple for the alleged killing of a blackbuck or a payment of Rs. 5 crore.
The series of threats against prominent Bollywood figures raises concerns about the safety and security of celebrities in India.
