Madhya Pradesh Police have arrested a man from Jabalpur, who threatened to blow up Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow.
According to reports, 35-year-old Jitesh Thakur called the Maharashtra police control room and threatened to blow up several locations in Mumbai, including the Dilwale actor’s residence in Bandra.
During his call, Jitesh had said that there will be an attack in Mumbai with bombings at places like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Kurla Railway Station and near a gurdwara.
He also claimed that he was from the army.
Post the call, a search was carried out at the places mentioned by the accused, but nothing suspicious was found.
Jitesh Thakur was then charged under sections 182, 505, and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
City Superintendent of Police (CSP), Alok Sharma said:
“We received a call from the Maharashtra police saying that a call claiming to carry terrorist attacks was made from Jabalpur.
“They sought our help in arresting the man.
“We have picked him up and have booked him under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.”
Alok Sharma added: ”He does not have any motive. He often gets drunk and then makes these calls.”
“We found out that his married life has not been going smooth because of which he has been disturbed lately”.
According to reports, Jitesh Thakur quarrelled with the staff of Dial 100, a police SOS service, on several occasions.
Gopal Khandel, Jabalpur’s Additional Superintendent of Police, revealed that Jitesh was arrested on January 8, 2022, through a mobile number shared by the Maharashtra Police.
Gopal Khandel further revealed that a case was registered against Jitesh Thakur on the charges of criminal intimidation, and providing false information to a public servant.
Shah Rukh Khan’s residential bungalow is considered a landmark in the city.
His fans have made it a tradition to gather outside his residence on his birthday every year, prompting the Baazigar actor to make an appearance and wave to them from the balcony.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming action film Pathan which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles.
Pathan will mark Shah Rukh Khan’s long-awaited comeback after his 2018 film Zero.
He will also make an appearance in Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 and star alongside newly-wed Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi.
