"I hope next time he will be wearing a seatbelt"
Shoaib Malik faced social media backlash for filming his son whilst driving.
The cricketer took to Instagram to share a video of his son Izhaan, who appeared to have just finished school.
The video showed the pair sitting in the car. The camera then pans to Izhaan, with Shoaib saying:
“Yes mini rock.”
Speaking about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Shoaib asked his son how the wrestler-turned-actor does his signature eyebrow raise.
Izhaan then looks into the camera, raising one eyebrow. The boy’s long pose prompted a laugh from Shoaib.
However, the moment was filmed whilst the traffic was flowing.

Many labelled Shoaib “irresponsible” and “reckless” for filming the video whilst driving. Others pointed out that Izhaan appeared to not be wearing his seatbelt.
One user said: “He is driving AND taking a video of his child on the front seat with no seatbelt or child seat. And he is supposed to be a cricket star.”
Another said: “Cute. But I hope next time he will be wearing a seatbelt in the passenger seat.”
A third asked: “Where is his seatbelt?”
The video also prompted questions about Shoaib’s marriage, with many wondering where Sania Mirza was.
The pair’s marriage has been in the headlines for months, with rumours suggesting that they have parted ways.
Divorce speculations first surfaced in November 2022 after fans noticed subtle hints that indicated all was not well in their marriage.
Some users believed things were fine as Sania had liked the video.
But in one Instagram post, Sania once again sparked concern that there was no reconciliation and that everyone was fighting a battle that nobody knew about.
Sania said:
“Nothing on social media shows the full story. Everyone has insecurities.”
“Every human alive is fighting a battle they don’t talk about. Don’t let your mind create a fairy tale. No one escapes real life.”
She also posted a photo in which she was wearing a vibrant yellow blazer and white t-shirt, and captioned the post:
“When you can’t find the sunshine, be the sunshine.”
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that she was not wearing her wedding ring.
While the couple have not spoken about their marriage, viewers are divided over whether they have separated or not.
In August 2023, Instagram users noticed that Shoaib Malik had removed his wife’s name from his bio.
