Singh allegedly raped the woman at gunpoint.

A rape case has been registered against the father of actress and Bigg Boss 13 contestant Shehnaaz Gill.

It was reported that Santokh Singh was booked by Punjab Police after being accused of rape. He allegedly raped the victim at gunpoint in his car.

The 40-year-old victim, a resident of Jalandhar, had reached Singh’s house to meet her boyfriend.

However, he allegedly raped her at gunpoint inside the vehicle.

The case was registered on May 19, 2020, following intervention by the Punjab State Commission for Women.

Manisha Gulati, the Chairperson of the Commission, said that the allegations came to her attention through social media. She then asked the Senior Superintendent to take action.

Under the direction of the Commission, police registered a case against Singh.

Mrs Gulati stated that the Commission would always be dedicated to protecting the interests of women in the state.

The incident reportedly took place on May 14, 2020. The victim revealed that Singh had been friends with Lucky Sandhu for 12 years, her boyfriend.

A few days before the alleged rape, the victim got into a row with Lucky.

She found out that he had been staying at Singh’s house in the town of Beas.

On May 14 at around 5:30 pm, she went to Singh’s house to meet her boyfriend. Singh’s father was outside the house, apparently waiting for her.

According to the victim, Singh made her sit in his car and promised that she would meet Lucky.

At that point, Singh allegedly raped the woman at gunpoint. He also threatened to kill her before dropping her off at the border.

Investigating officer Harpreet Kaur stated that a rape case has been registered.

Spotboye reported that a police team raided Singh’s house, but he has absconded. Efforts are being made to arrest the accused.

Following the accusations against Shehnaaz Gill’s father, her brother Shehbaz Badesha has said that the allegations are “completely false” and an attempt to defame their father.

He said: “Yes, there has been a case registered with the Punjab Police but these are completely false allegations.

“The lady in question is trying to defame my father.”

“We are surely disturbed at the moment but we also know nothing is going to happen as we have enough proof that the lady is lying.

“The mentioned place where the incident according to her happened is under CCTV surveillance and we have arranged for recording of it.”

Shehbaz went on to say that he does not know the complainant.

“I really don’t know her as Shehnaaz and I have shifted to Mumbai from quite some time now.

“But all we know is my father is not wrong and justice will be served to him soon.”

Shehnaaz and Shehbaz are currently in Mumbai and have no current plans to return to Punjab.

Shehbaz added: “For now, we are very much in Mumbai and don’t have any such plans.

“I have been busy with calls since morning and I would like the media to cooperate with us.”
