"This time, I want to bring a story-driven film."

Shakib Khan is set to return to the big screen in December 2025 with Soldier, directed by debutant filmmaker Sakib Fahad.

The superstar confirmed the news in an interview from the United States.

He has been on holiday there for over a month with his wife, Shobnom Bubly, and their son, Shehzad Khan Bir.

Shakib said: “I have done many action-packed films. This time, I want to bring a story-driven film.

Soldier is planned for release in December, and preparations are moving full speed ahead.”

Rumours about the film had been circulating for weeks.

Many speculated that Shakib would play an army officer, with Tanjin Tisha possibly joining him as the lead actress.

The production team has yet to officially confirm the casting.

According to reports, the plot revolves around a former intelligence officer navigating personal struggles and a tense political landscape.

Shooting is expected to begin in September 2025, and the remaining cast members will be revealed soon.

Public excitement is already building online.

One user wrote: “December can’t come soon enough! This is going to be massive.”

Another fan shared: “If anyone can bring depth to a role like this, it’s Shakib. He never disappoints.”

A third comment read: “The title Soldier sounds powerful. Hoping for a mix of action and a strong storyline this time.”

Another added: “We’ve missed seeing Shakib in cinemas. It’s great to see him trying something different.”

While Soldier dominates headlines, Shakib recently addressed backlash over a Facebook post marking the death anniversary of ex-Bangladesh President Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Critics questioned the timing and intent of the post.

Responding to the controversy, Shakib clarified: “There was no intention to offend anyone. Those who sacrificed for this country deserve respect.

“My post should not be misinterpreted for political motives.”

He reiterated that he has never been affiliated with any political party despite receiving multiple offers over the years.

Many fans defended the actor, as one wrote:

“People always look for controversy. He only paid respect, nothing more.”

Another user stated: “Shakib is an artist, not a politician. Let’s keep the focus on his work.”

With filming for Soldier set to begin shortly, excitement continues to grow.

Promotional campaigns are expected to launch later, with audiences across the country eagerly waiting to see what Shakib brings to the screen.
