Shajal Noor has begun filming his latest feature, Shapla Shaluk, in the scenic border region of Sherpur.

The project marks his first big-screen pairing with Shobnom Bubly.

Directed by Rasheda Akter Lajuk, the action-romantic film has already encountered unexpected challenges.

This included a surprise visit from wild elephants that disrupted the shoot.

Despite the disruption, filming continues at a steady pace.

Shajal said: “We’re shooting continuously and will continue for a few more days before returning to Dhaka.”

The film introduces Shajal as Poran, a character he describes as both “challenging” and “complex”.

Preparing for the role wasn’t easy. Shajal underwent intensive fight training for nearly two weeks under action director Chunnu.

He said: “I came fully prepared before facing the camera.”

Shajal has worked with Rasheda Akter Lajuk in television, but Shapla Shaluk is their first film collaboration.

He noted: “She’s an organised director with a very methodical approach to her work.”

The shoot began unusually, with the final scene.

He added: “It was an action sequence. We usually start with the beginning, but this time it was the ending.”

Working alongside Shobnom has been a highlight of the shoot for Shajal.

He said: “She’s a very serious actress. Even though it’s our first film together, it doesn’t feel like it.

“Our understanding on set is quite good. We’re working well together.”

The team is filming in a remote location near the border, and nature has played a dramatic role.

Shajal revealed:

“There have been disturbances from wild elephants. One even disrupted the set. Thankfully, we’re all safe.”

The actor views the experience as both intense and rewarding.

He said: “It’s been quite an experience, one that I’ll remember for a long time. Most importantly, we’re working on a good film.”

Shajal’s most recent film, Jinn 3, hit theatres during Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.

With Shapla Shaluk, he hopes to bring something fresh to audiences.

He stated: “I’m giving my hundred per cent to do justice to the role. I believe something good will come out of this.”

As the team works to wrap up the final leg of shooting, Shajal Noor remains optimistic, adding:

“This team is wonderful. When you work with a good team, everything falls into place.”
