Netflix India has confirmed that The Royals will return for a second season following the show’s breakout success.

The announcement came via Netflix India’s official Instagram page.

Their caption read: “Old money, new blood and a new season is in the works. The Royals Season 2 is coming soon, only on Netflix.”

The series sparked conversations for its glossy take on Indian royalty.

Blending romance, betrayal and ambition, it quickly became a fan favourite. It also divided critics but broke viewership records, securing its place in Netflix’s slate of returning Indian titles.

Key cast members are expected to reprise their roles.

Ishaan Khatter, Bhumi Pednekar, Nora Fatehi, Sakshi Tanwar and Zeenat Aman are likely to return.

While major plot points remain under wraps, viewers are still reeling from the explosive Season 1 finale.

In the last episode, Aviraaj Singh (Ishaan Khatter) and Sophia Shekhar (Bhumi Pednekar) front a press conference.

Just as their romance seems to cement their power, a devastating truth emerges.

Aviraaj is revealed to be the illegitimate son of Maharani Padmaja (Sakshi Tanwar).

The revelation leads to a dramatic fallout. Aviraaj lets go of Sophia’s hand, hinting at fractures in their partnership and setting up a tense new chapter.

The public airing of royal secrets is expected to drive much of the plot in Season 2.

Series creator Rangita Pritish Nandy said the team always intended to return with more:

“Season 1 of The Royals was our love letter to the romcom genre; palaces, polo races, midnight masquerade balls, fort-top romps and raves, love at its most chaotic and charming.

“That struck a chord and trended globally. This told us just one thing: we had to come back for more.

“We are thrilled to team up with Netflix for a second season that’s going to be bigger, bolder, and even more fabulous.”

“Expect more fire, more feisty banter, and yes, a whole lot of drama. Because in our world, the crowns may be metaphorical but the chaos is royally real.”

The renewal comes alongside announcements for other Indian Netflix originals.

Mismatched will return for a fourth season. Black Warrant and Maamla Legal Hai are also confirmed to return with second seasons.

With its glamorous setting, high drama and complex characters, The Royals has become one of Netflix India’s flagship titles.

Season 2 is expected to build on that success, drawing audiences back into the intrigue and dysfunction of a fictional royal family in turmoil.
