Bangladeshi award-winning actress Azmeri Haque Badhan has officially begun filming her latest cinematic project, Bonolota Express, marking another major milestone in her evolving film career.

The film is being directed by acclaimed filmmaker Tanim Noor, whose previous work Utshob earned critical and commercial praise across Bangladesh.

Shooting is currently underway at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, where elaborate sets have already drawn attention from the cast.

Badhan described the experience as unusually immersive, noting that she had rarely seen BFDC transformed with such detailed production design.

According to the actress, a substantial portion of filming has already been completed on indoor sets constructed specifically for the film.

The remaining schedule will take the production outdoors, with scenes planned in a forest location somewhere within the country.

Bonolota Express is adapted from Humayun Ahmed’s short novel Kichukkhon, a literary work known for its warmth, humour, and emotional depth.

Badhan expressed deep excitement about participating in a project rooted in Humayun Ahmed’s storytelling legacy and emotional sensibility.

She shared that the screenplay, written by Samiul Bhuiyan and Ayman Asib Shadhin, carefully preserves the author’s distinctive narrative tone.

The actress believes audiences will find themselves smiling throughout the film due to its gentle humour and human-centred dialogue.

When asked about comparisons with Utshob, Badhan confidently predicted that Bonolota Express would resonate even more strongly with viewers.

She said the film has strong commercial potential and expects it to be embraced warmly by audiences across different age groups.

The story unfolds aboard a train, using its passengers to explore interconnected lives, fleeting encounters, and shared emotional journeys.

Badhan stars opposite Chanchal Chowdhury, marking their first on-screen collaboration despite previously working together in theatre.

She described Chowdhury as a generous and supportive co-star, expressing confidence in the chemistry they bring to the screen.

In the film, Badhan portrays a character named Surma, a role she says is unlike anything she has previously attempted.

She explained that the character has allowed her to explore unfamiliar emotional territory, making the process creatively fulfilling.

Badhan also revealed her long-standing admiration for Humayun Ahmed, sharing that she revisited the original text multiple times.

She said rereading the novel before shooting helped her internalise the emotional rhythm of the character.

Praising the crew, Badhan highlighted the production’s organisation, noting that each department operates with remarkable coordination.

She described director Tanim Noor as someone who deeply understands cinematic language and knows how to guide performances effectively.

Badhan added that her daughter had watched Utshob and encouraged her to accept this role enthusiastically.

Beyond Bonolota Express, Badhan confirmed signing another film scheduled to begin shooting after the upcoming elections.

She also shared that her film Master, directed by Rezwan Shahriar, has been selected for the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Azmeri Haque Badhan plans to attend the festival herself, continuing a period of significant professional momentum.
